McCartney Kessler gets a shot at her first WTA Tour tournament title as she squares up against No.1 seed Beatriz Hadad Maia in the championship match of the 2024 Tennis in the Land in Cleveland, Ohio. Kessler posted four impressive victories, including a 4-6 6-3 6-3 victory over No.5 seed Anastasia Potapova in the semifinals, to reach her first WTA Main Tour title match. The American has three titles under her belt (WTA Challenger levels), but none are as prestigious as this WTA 250 tournament. Maia has so far lived up to her billing as the No.1 seed of this tournament, toppling her first three opponents in straight sets before outlasting Katerina Siniakova 6-3 2-6 6-2 in the semifinal. Maia, the 2023 French Open semifinalist, will be playing for her fourth career WTA title and first since winning the WTA Elite Trophy in October 2023.
