América emerged strong from the Mexican triple derby against archrival Chivas de Guadalajara in the Liga MX and Concacaf Champions League. This wouldn't have been true if not for the 4-0 thrashing they inflicted on Chivas at the Estadio Cuidad de los Deportes, advancing to the quarterfinals of the continental tournament, a tournament they haven't won since 2015-2016.
América played quite a good game in the final, as an early goal from Rodríguez demoralized Chivas, even more so when América's second goal was scored by Valdez just before halftime. Valdez and Rodríguez shone for América on the left flank, showing great participation in a match where all four goals came from different midfielders. Jardine's defensive system, which has dominated the Liga MX and has conceded just one goal in its last five matches, is also a good one.
Three days after the 4-0 thrashing, América travels to Estadio Jalisco to face Atlas. The Mexican champion will have an implied probability of winning in the 90 minutes greater than 50% according to betting sites, just as has happened the last three times these teams have met.
