Big spending Atlanta United begin their MLS campaign with a home matchup against CF Montreal on Saturday night.
United reached the Conference semi finals last season, defeating Montreal and tournament favorites Inter Miami en route. They have also strengthened considerably in the offseason, picking up Paraguayan star Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United, and signing Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath for a fee in the region of $22 million.
In contrast, Montreal have been relatively low key in the transfer market, but they will hope that young signings such as Jalen Neal and Hennadii Synchuk can help them improve on last season's 8th place Eastern Conference finish.
