The Tampa Bay Rays look to even the score with the Atlanta Braves in Game 2 of their series at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Saturday.
The Rays opened the weekend series with a bang, cruising to a 6-3 win on Friday. Danny Jansen recorded his first homer of the season – a 358 feet two-run blast in the 4th inning. Jansen drove two more runs along the way – including an RBI grounder in the 8th inning to seal the deal for Tampa Bay. The catcher went 3 for 4 in the night with four RBIs.
Pitching continues to disappoint the Braves this season as starter Bryce Elder surrendered six earned runs in 6.0 innings, raising his ERA to 7.20. As of Friday, the Braves carry a 4.20 ERA while allowing 1.3 home runs per game. Offensively, Atlanta isn’t that good either. They are batting .219 with 3.2 runs a game, which put them in the bottom 5 of the league for these categories.
