Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus squares it off again with Jasmine Paolini on Sunday but this time on a different surface, the reddish-brown court of Stuttgart, in the semifinal of the 2025 Porsche Open.

Sabalenka flexed her muscles anew on Saturday as she obliterated Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-4 6-1. Fresh off a walkover win against Anastasia Potapova, the world’s No.1 unleashed a full-throttle attack on the Belgian, manufacturing 26 points off the 39 first serves she landed. She also broke Mertens’ serves four times by winning 27 points as a receiver.

On a day filled with upsets, Paolini pulled off arguably the biggest one when she ousted former US Open champion Coco Gauff 6-4 6-3 on Saturday. Paolini entered the semifinals with a 0-2 head-to-head record against Gauff. However, it was obvious from the start that Paolini had no plans losing to the American on her favorite surface. The 2024 French Open runner up engaged in a back-and-forth battle with Gauff until she captured a crucial service break in the 8th game of the first set that led to her winning four straight games and the set. Paolini raced to a 2-0 lead in the second set, traded breaks and then held her final two serves to complete the upset against the world’s No.4.
