24-hours after stunning Poland’s No.1 Hubert Hurkacz in the opening round, Alex Michelsen of the United States will shoot for a spot in the round-of-16 of the 2024 Paris Masters against another giant killer in Arthur Rinderknech of France. The 20-year-old Michelsen proved once again that he’s the future of USA Tennis after he pulled off a 6-1 6-3 upset over No.14 rank Hurkacz in the first round. The young American won 24 points on his first serves and 28 return points. Michelsen broke three times in the first set before securing a crucial breakpoint in the eighth game of the second set, giving him a 5-3 lead. Meanwhile, Rinderknech also came through with an upset victory over Czech rising star Tomas Machac 6-7(3) 5-3 ret. in the first round. The Frenchman sprayed Machac with 11 aces and won 78 percent of his first serves. A wildcard entry in the final ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, Rinderknech seeks to equal his third-round finish in another ATP 1000 level tourney at the Canadina Open several months ago.
