Zverev reached the Halle Open quarterfinals after topping compatriot Oscar Otte 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4 and Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 6-4 7-6(5) in the first two rounds. The German has managed to land 72 percent of his first serves and won 82 percent of the first serves while pummeling his foes with 32 aces. Fils, meanwhile, reached the last eight of the 2024 Halle Open by scoring straight set victories over Tomas Machac of Czech Republic 6-4 6-4 and Dominik Koeper of Germany 6-3 6-4. While the Frenchman only landed 55 percent of his first serves, he was able to score in 80 percent of the first serves. Zverev and Fils will play each other for the second time. The German won the initial encounter 6-2 6-4 at the 2023 Hamburg Open.
