While everyone seems to have their eyes on the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants, the D-backs earned their 10th win of the season on Monday, beating the Marlins 10-4 in Miami. Lovullo's team has already produced their 80th RBI of the season and has been betting at odds of -101 or lower in their last 10 games, winning five of the last six times.
While Merrill Kelly secured his third win of the season, he also pitched six complete innings for the D-backs in the process, comfortable with the advantage his team gave him at the plate. Diamondbacks No. 7 Carroll had another excellent game, going 2-for-5 with five RBIs, two runs scored and hitting his sixth home run of the season in the sixth inning. The D-backs' rallies appear to be lethal this season, as they again had a four-run second inning on Monday and then a five-run sixth, leaving the Marlins with no chance.
The D-backs' Pfaadt will be the starter for Game 2 of the series. This is his third season with Arizona, the only MLB team he's pitched for, and with whom he's made more than 50 starts since 2023. In 2024, he posted a winning record of 11-10, which for the 2025 season is 2-1.
