Andrey Rublev of Russia will battle Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round of the men’s singles competition at the 2024 US Open Championship in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York. Rublev hasn’t accomplished much in Grand Slam tournaments this year but he can turn his fortune around with a strong campaign at the US Open where he has been a quarterfinalist four times. The Russian has had a significant North American hard-court campaign, barging into the finals of the Montreal Masters and quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters. He may have not won a title in these tournaments but his marquee victory over Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal of the Montreal Masters should bolster his confidence heading into the US Open. Thiago Seyboth Wild could only reach the third round of the Winston-Salem Open after losing Learner Tiem of the United States 6-4 6-3. Wild has yet to play beyond the first round of the hard-court Grand Slam, though a win over Rublev can change the trajectory of his career.
