Andrey Rublev vs Alexei Popyrin Prediction & Picks - ATP National Bank Open
by Lou Aguila | in ATP National Bank Open Picks
Andrey Rublev of Russia has a chance to win his second ATP Masters 1000 title on Monday, provided he finds a way to stop the red-hot Alexei Popyrin of Australia in the men’s singles finals of the 2024 Canadian Open. Months after bagging the Madrid Open, Rublev finds himself in a position to win a second ATP Masters 1000 tournament after beating Matteo Arnaldi of Italy to book his ticket into the final. Rublev refused to allow Arnaldi to find his form during the match as the Russian fired four aces and won 27 of his 60 points on his first serves. Arnaldi was the second Italian Rublev toppled on his way to finals since he’s also the one who eliminated world’s No.1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals 6-3 1-6 6-2. Meanwhile, Alexie Popyrin came out on top in his semifinal battle with Sebastian Korda of the United States, ending the American’s quest of a back-to-back title. Korda entered his semifinal showdown with Popyrin on an 8-match winning streak. Still, the Aussie took the challenge with poise and delivered his best game in the tournament, winning 34 points on his first serves and breaking his opponent four times.

Our Andrey Rublev vs Alexei Popyrin Prediction
Andrey Rublev and Alexei Popyrin split their first two head-to-head encounters, though the Russian won the first match on the hard court 7-6(5) 6-4 in the first round of the 2023 Erste Bank Open. Popyrin is enjoying his longest winning streak of 2024 with five consecutive victories. On the other hand, Rublev has established himself as the man to beat in this tourney after scoring a massive win over Jannik Sinner. A career 66.7 percent on the hard court and 19-6 on the surface this season, Rublev looks like a solid betting pick to win this match based on the quality of opponents he defeated on his way to the finals. I expect Popyrin to present a strong challenge for Rublev, and I won’t be even shocked if he steals a set to force a decider. In the end, I feel Rublev is hungry to get some vindication following disastrous second half of the clay court and grass court season. Our betting prediction for Andrey Rublev vs. Alexie Popyrin: Rublev wins -250 at BetMGM.
