Amanda Anisimova of the United States sets sight on a spot in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Charleston Open against Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan on Thursday.
Anisimova is gunning for her second clay court title and first since winning the 2019 Copa Colsanitas in Colombia. The American vanquished Veronika Kudermetova 6-2 6-2 to advance into the next round of competition in Charleston. Anisimova pulled off the win by holding 100 percent of her serves, from which she captured 27 first-serve points and 11 second-serve points.
Putintseva arrested her four-match losing streak with a 7-6(5) 6-1 win over Zhang Shuai of China. Putintseva came out on top of a back-and-forth battle in the first set before crushing the spirit of her Chinese foe with a dominant performance in the second set.
