Amanda Anisimova will again attempt to win her first WTA 1000 title against Jelena Ostapenko in a surprising championship match pairing at the 2025 Qatar Open. After pulling off a stunning 6-4, 6-3 upset of world’s No.10 Paola Badosa Gibert, Anisimova had sustained her impeccable form in the succeeding rounds, dispatching Leylah Fernandez 6-3 6-0, Marta Kostyuk 4-6 7-5 6-4 and Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-3 to reach her second final at an ATP 1000 event. Anisimova is eager to get a different result this time after losing to Jesica Pegula 3–6, 6–2, 1–6 in her first ATP 1000 final at the Canadian Open last year. Meanwhile, Ostapenko took down three seeded players on her way to the final, including world’s No.2 Iga Swiatek in the semis 6-3, 6-1. Ostapenko delivered arguably her best performance in her victory over Swiatek. The Latvian held all her serves except one and broke Swiatek five times in the match. The win propelled Ostapenko to her third WTA 1000 final appearance and second WTA Qatar Open final.
