Alexander Zverev vs Pablo Carreño-Busta Prediction & Picks - ATP Cincinnati Open
by Lou Aguila | in ATP Cincinnati Open Picks
Alexander Zverev remains in contention for another ATP Masters 1000 title following a terrific performance against Karen Kachanov of Russia. On Friday, Germany’s No.1 tennis player will go for a spot in the quarterfinals against fellow veteran Pablo Careno Busta of Spain. Zverev recorded his third consecutive win against Kachanov, the same person he defeated to claim the gold medal in men’s singles competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Zverev was masterful in his second-round match, winning 87 percent of points on his first serves and breaking Kachanov four times in the match. Zverev is aiming for his seventh ATP Masters 1000 title and first on hard court since winning at the same tournament in 2021. For the second straight day, Pablo Carreno-Busta played like his old self before the injury. After stunning Montreal Masters semifinalist Sebastian Korda in the first-round, Carreno-Busta delivered another strong performance to Max Purcell of Australia 6-3 6-3 to set up a clash with Zverev in the round-of-16. A two-time US Open semi-finalist, Carreno-Busta is showing flashes of his old self before he underwent an elbow injury in 2023. It would be interesting to see how the Spaniard will perform in his upcoming match with Zverev, who he hasn’t defeated yet after three attempts.

Our Alexander Zverev vs Pablo Carreño-Busta Prediction
Carreno-Busta will be playing only his 10th match this 2024 and fifth hard court match of the year. On the other hand, Zverev has already played in 28 hard-court matches throughout the year, losing only seven of those matches. As much as I like Carreno Busta to keep on winning at a high level again, I feel it’s too early in his recovery to defeat a player of the same caliber as Zverev. Don’t get me wrong. The Spaniard will give Zverev all he can handle in this match, but in the end, the No.4 seed in the tournament will carve out a close win. Our betting prediction for Alexander Zverev vs. Pablo Carreno Busta: Back Carreno-Busta to cover +4.5 games, +100, at BetMGM.
