Alexander Zverev of Germany gears up for a tricky fourth-round clash with Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina on Tuesday at the 2025 Mutua Madrid Masters.
Zverev gutted his way into the fourth round of the Madrid Masters after pulling off a 2-6 7-6(3) 7-6(0) win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain in the third round. The German fired 11 aces and collected 46 points off his first serves to stave off a serious upset bid from the Spaniard, extending his winning streak to seven matches.
Cerundolo toppled compatriot Francisco Comesana 6-4 6-4 to reach the fourth round in Madrid. Cerundolo, who reached the round of 8 at Indian Wells and Miami, can clinch his third ATP 1000 quarterfinal appearance if he finds a way to upset the BMW Open champion, Zverev.
