He easily won his first-round match against world No. 36 Felix Auger-Aliassime in 2 sets, 6-2, 6-4, in just 77 minutes. Winner of a 3-match winning streak at the previous Indian Wells Masters 1000 a few days ago, the German defeated top 10 Alex De Minaur in the Round of 8, before playing the quarter-finals against the winner Carlos Alcaraz. Christopher Eubanks, meanwhile, won his first-round tie in a tight 2-1 match against England's Daniel Evans, ranked 43rd in the world. It was a welcome victory for the American, who had previously suffered 4 consecutive defeats. He had failed to progress beyond the first rounds at Acapulco, where he was beaten by world No. 8 Casper Ruud, at Indian Wells, where he was beaten by his compatriot Brandon Nakashima (world No. 92), and more recently at the Phoenix Challenger, where he lost to world No. 101 Thanasi Kokkinakis.
