Novak Djokovic moves three wins away from tying Roger Federer for the most Wimbledon Open titles. But standing in his path to glory is the unflappable man from down under, Alex de Minaur. The two tennis stars will clash in the men’s singles tournament quarterfinal round at the 2024 Wimbledon Open on Wednesday at All-England Club. Djokovic will play for his 13th semifinal appearance in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. After opening with a straight sets win over Vit Kopriva 6-1 6-2 6-2, the Serb had to overcome some test from Jacob Fearnley 6-3 6-4 5-7 7-5 and Alexie Popyrin 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6(3) in the round 2 and 3, respectively. Djokovic eventually regained his old, dominant form in the fourth round as he annihilated No.15 seed Holger Rune 6-3 6-4 6-2 to punch his way to the quarterfinal round. Meanwhile, de Minaur topped compatriot James Duckworth of Australia 7-6(1) 7-6(3) 7-6(4) to kick off his Wimbledon Open campaign on a positive note. De Minaur then dispatched Jaume Antoni Munar Clar 6-2 6-2 7-5, got a walkover win over Lucas Pouille, and denied Aurthur Fils 6-2 6-4 4-6 6-3 to secure a back-to-back quarterfinal stint in a Grand Slam tournament.
