Alejandro Tabilo of Chile will shoot for the stars on Thursday as he aims for another upset against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the third round of the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters.
Tabilo shocked the tennis world on Wednesday when he came through with a 6-3 6-4 upset over former world’s No.1 Novak Djokovic. Tabilo swarmed all over Djokovic by winning 81 percent of his serves and conceding only one service break the entire match. The Chilean now has two career wins over the 24-time Grand Slam winner after beating him the first time at 2024 Rome Open.
Dimitrov registered his second win at the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters by fending off an upset bid from Polish qualifier Val Vacherot 4-6 6-3 6-1 in the second round. After being broken twice in the first set, Dimitrov returned the favor by breaking the Pole six times in the second and third sets while winning six serves. A two-time Monte Carlo Masters semifinalist, the Bulgarian can punch his way to the quarterfinal round for the first time since 2022 if he beats Djokovic’s conqueror, Tabilo.
