Carlos Alcaraz eyes a third final appearance this year in Saturday’s semifinal duel with the dangerous Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters.
Alcaraz booked his ticket to his first Monte Carlo Masters semifinals after weathering off a feisty challenge from French rising star Arthur Fils 4-6 7-5 6-3. The reigning French Open champion demonstrated his championship pedigree by gutting out the win despite facing relentless pressure from the Frenchman. Alcaraz landed 61 percent of his first serves, scoring 43 points for a 69 percent conversion rate.
Meanwhile, Davidovich Fokina made a quick work of Australia’s Alexie Popyrin 6-3, 6-2 to move on to his second Monte Carlo semifinals. Fokina outclassed his Aussie foe by neutralizing his biggest weapons – his big serves – scoring on all his serves. Once the dust settled, the numbers were devastating in favor of Fokina as the Spaniard won 81 percent of his first serves and seized three breakpoint conversions.
