For their part, Liverpool were far more convincing on their league debut. They, too, will be hoping to play well for the Premier League title. They managed to win their first 3 league games. The Reds had little difficulty in defeating Ipswich Town (0-2), Brentford (2-0) and Manchester United (0-3). Arne Slot's men were expected to carry on after the international break against Nottingham Forest. However, in front of their home fans, Alisson Becker's team-mates suffered their 1st defeat of the season (0-1).

For their Champions League opener, AC Milan will be without the injured Marco Sportiello, Alessandro Florenzi and Ismaël Bennacer.
