World Wide Technology Championship 2024
After a break in the schedule last week, the PGA Tour is back with a bang this week, with action coming our way from the beautiful setting of Cabo San Lucas, where at the Tiger Woods designed venue of El Cardonal Golf Course, the 2024 renewal of the World Wide Technology Championship will take place.
We haven’t quite reached the stage where PGA Tour fields are filled with big-name players. In fact, most of the top players continue to be missing, leaving the door open for players looking to climb the rankings.
The highest ranking player due to be involved in Mexico this week is Cameron Young, who currently ranks 33rd in the world. There are only two other top-50 players in the field, so let’s face it, this is definitely an opportunity for players not known for competing with the very best.
As is always the case, this article is all about finding the best pre-tournament betting angles, so let’s get stuck in. For more bets, check out our full list of upcoming picks and predictions.
Lucas Glover to Win: +2800 with FanDuel
In recent weeks, Lucas Glover, who finished third when I put him up to make the top 10 at the Black Desert Championship a few weeks back, has played like a man whose next career win is just around the corner, though I don’t think the market has priced him accordingly. Not only does Glover head to Mexico off the back of consecutive third-place finishes, but he’s one of just three top-50 players in this field, so this is clearly a sizable opportunity for the six-time PGA Tour winner to thrive.
He has some decent results on similar courses under his belt, including that third in Utah last time out, while he looks a good fit for this test.
Approach play is going to be key this week, so it’s a clear positive that Lucas Glover ranks second in this field for strokes gained: approach, while he’s also right up there in terms of driving accuracy stats, which is another positive given that being accurate off the tee has proven to be key at El Cardonal in recent years.
Frankly, the Greenville native ticks far too many boxes for odds of +2800 to be considered anything other than generous. At such odds, he’s a decent bet to secure the prize at El Cardonal.

Doug Ghim top 10 finish: +125 with FanDuel
As far as top-10-finishes go this week, even at relatively short odds of +125, I think Doug Ghim looks like a bit of a steal. Put it this way, if he went off at odds of -125, I don’t think you could argue.
Now ranked inside the top 100, Doug Ghim has played some very solid golf in recent times. Not only did he play his way rather brilliantly to a second-place finish at the Shriners recently, but he’s now made seven cuts on the spin, finishing inside the top 30 in four of those seven.
The 28-year-old, who is now as high in the rankings as he ever has been, also has some solid desert-course form in the book, finishing second at TPC Summerlin, which is definitely relevant, while he played well to achieve a T15 finish here last season. Now a more developed player, he could easily improve on that.
From a stats viewpoint, Ghim looks very strong this week. Only one player ranks better in this field for strokes gained: tee-to-green in 2024, which is very hard to ignore, while he also ranks very, very highly in this field for driving accuracy, strokes gained: approach and greens in regulation.
All in all, this is a player who looks all set for a very decent week in Mexico, so don’t be surprised to see his name feature prominently on the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.
Joel Dahmen top 20 finish: +450 with FanDuel
Last but certainly not least, I’ve got to give Joel Dahmen some love this week. At odds of +450, he looks a great top-20-finish bet, that’s for sure.
A man whose popularity increased dramatically after come across as a genuinely nice, fun, light-hearted and all-round good guy when featuring the Netflix’s golf documentary back in early 2023, Dahmen is a fan favorite, while he’s certainly a player capable of challenging at the right end of the leaderboard on his day.
In terms of recent form, Joel Dahmen hasn’t exactly scaled the heights in recent times, but he’s now returning to a course that has suited his game in recent years.
Dahmen last played at El Cardonal back in 2022, when he finished third, while he also finished sixth back in 2019, making the top 20 in three of his last four appearances at the Cabo San Lucas. I like that stat.
