The Philadelphia Eagles open as Super Bowl favorites after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Where does the betting value lie ahead of a fascinating NFL offseason?

Five teams worth backing in opening SB 60 odds

The Philadelphia Eagles are opening Super Bowl favorites at +650 with BetMGM, as is always the case for the defending champions. Despite a humiliating loss at the Superdome, the Kansas City Chiefs are as short as +650 with FanDuel. Kansas City is out at +750 with BetMGM, while the Baltimore Ravens are +700.

It might seem a little early to be making NFL predictions for the 2025 season, but placing bets at this time of year can be a good way to find value in futures markets. BetMGM, Caesars, FanDuel, and DraftKings made their Super Bowl 60 odds live immediately after Sunday’s Big Game.

Here are our five best Super Bowl wagers:

Frontrunners

Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl 60

Baltimore Ravens: +700 at DraftKings

The Ravens won double-digit games for the six time in seven years. Yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Lamar Jackson era, Baltimore has made a habit of failing in the postseason, and their loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round falls into that category.

Ronnie Stanley and Patrick Mekari becoming free agents leaves the Ravens with some questions to answer on the offensive line. Their fearsome tandem of Jackson and Derrick Henry relies on great blocking.

The Ravens are clearly the best team in their division, though, and Jackson is going to put it all together for a postseason run eventually.

Detroit Lions: +1000 at FanDuel

A 15-win regular season led to playoff heartbreak in the Divisional Round. The Detroit Lions are now facing losing Levi Onwuzurike, Kevin Zeitler, and Carlton Davis III in free agency.

With almost $57 million in cap space, Detroit can afford to re-sign that trio and make further additions.

The defensive collapse in the playoffs can largely be put down to injuries. A healthy Aidan Hutchinson changes a lot, and he wasn’t the only one to miss time down the stretch with Davis and Malcolm Rodriguez also sidelined for significant periods.

Detroit was seventh in points against per game. Even with Ben Johnson departing, the offense will remain elite. This is phenomenal value.

Young QBs & Team-Wide Upside

Washington Commanders Super Bowl 60

Washington Commanders: +2400 at FanDuel

Jayden Daniels had a rookie season for the ages. He led the Washington Commanders to an improbable appearance in the NFC Championship Game after a pair of remarkable playoff outings.

Washington enters this offseason with the third-most cap space. Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz, Jeremy Chinn, Dante Fowler Jr., and Lavonte David are among their upcoming free agents.

Only two teams had a worse expected points mark on defense. They were particularly vulnerable against the run, ranking third in opponent ground yards per game.

Washington is a flawed team needing reinforcements, but they have a high ceiling after Daniels’ spectacular season. The offense is going to be dangerous as long as he’s healthy, particularly if Terry McLaurin can repeat his 13-touchdown performance from 2024.

Houston Texans: +3000 at Caesars

C.J. Stroud had a sophomore slump, posting lower numbers across the board while throwing more picks. He was sacked eight times in the playoff loss to the Chiefs.

Stroud wouldn’t be the first quarterback to get back on track in year three. The Houston Texans were ravaged by injuries throughout the 2024 regular season, with Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Will Anderson, and Joe Mixon among the players to miss multiple games.

Houston is the only team with a settled future in the AFC South. Their long Super Bowl price reflects the consensus opinion on this team after an underwhelming 2024, but it would be foolish to write off such a talented group.

The Outsider

Carolina Panthers: +15000 at BetMGM

The Carolina Panthers quietly won two of their last three games. They also took the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to overtime and nearly beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the second half of the season.

Bryce Young looked much more comfortable in his second professional season. Chuba Hubbard had a career year, going for 1,195 yards on the ground. The defense was abysmal, but the Panthers have over $20 million in cap space to work on that side of the ball.

The NFC South remains the worst division in football. Carolina has hope for the first time in several years. Maybe, just maybe, the 2025 season is a breakthrough campaign for Young and co.
