Super Bowl LIX Prop Bets
The betting action on the Super Bowl LIX moneyline shows a near-even split in support but with a notable difference in how wagers are distributed. The line leans toward the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat their previous wins, with BetMGM giving them -130 to the Philadelphia Eagles' +110.
However, after setting down the most notable bets – moneyline, spread and Over/Under – there's still plenty of action to explore. Sportsbooks, where possible, offer thousands of prop bets to keep sports fans and bettors engaged.
Some Super Bowl prop bets take on a highly unusual nature, including the possibility of an alien invasion stopping the game. While this bet sits at extreme odds, other unique options remain within the realm of possibility. Player performance props, National Anthem-related wagers, and Gatorade color predictions add an extra layer of challenges to the betting landscape.
Some of these have been around longer than legal sports betting has been available in the US – what will be the result of the coin toss, how long will the national anthem be and plenty others. All US sportsbooks are in on the prop bet excitement, too, and here's a look at some of the most common Super Bowl LIX prop bets and their odds.
Coin Toss
The Super Bowl coin toss remains a simple yet highly anticipated event in sports betting. With an almost 50/50 chance of landing on heads or tails, odds for both options generally sit at around -105.
Historically, teams that have won the toss hold a losing record of 25-31, indicating no clear advantage. Kansas City recently broke a streak where seven consecutive coin toss winners went on to lose the game, but such patterns remain inconsistent and unpredictable.
Currently, this is the way things look with several US sportsbooks:
Heads
- FanDuel: -104
- BetMGM: -102
- DraftKings: +100
Tails
- FanDuel: -104
- BetMGM: -102
- DraftKings: +100
You can also place a single wager on who will win the coin toss and the game. The Chiefs are getting +260 on FanDuel, while the Eagles are sitting on +310.
First Player to 20+ Receiving Yards
A.J. Brown leads the odds to have a strong initial impact in Super Bowl LIV, getting +410 on FanDuel to be the first to pick up at least 20 receiving yards. His ability to break off big plays early in the game gives him a strong case for this bet.
Close behind him is Travis Kelce at +430, a frequent target of Patrick Mahomes and a consistent performer in high-pressure moments.
Given his reliability in the short and intermediate passing game, he remains a strong contender to accumulate yards quickly.
Xavier Worthy is listed at +490, making him a slightly longer shot but still a viable option. If he can get open early and capitalize on a big gain, he has the potential to surpass the 20-yard mark before the others.
Dallas Goedert follows at +570, offering value for those who believe the Eagles' tight end could be involved in the game plan early on. Known for his ability to exploit defensive gaps, he could be a sleeper pick for this prop.
First TD
The betting odds for key players highlight their potential impact in the upcoming game, with Saquon Barkley leading the way at +400 on FanDuel (+450 on DraftKings and +425 on Caesars). As a dynamic running back, Barkley has the ability to contribute both on the ground and in the passing game, making him a strong contender for a significant performance.
Hurts follows at +700 (+600 on DraftKings and +650 on Caesars), positioning him as a solid option with considerable value. As a dual-threat quarterback, Hurts has the ability to affect the game through both passing and rushing, making him a dangerous opponent for any defense. His ability to extend plays and create opportunities will be more important than ever in the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LIV MVP
The Championship MVP award typically highlights the usual dominance of quarterbacks while also featuring key skill-position players. On Fanatics and Caesars, Mahomes leads the betting at +110 and Eagles running back Barkley follows at +275 (FanDuel and Caesars mostly agree with the other two, but list Barkely at +280 and +220, respectively).
This is one of the rare instances that a running back ranks high in the Super Bowl MVP prop list.
If he has another solid performance like those seen already this season, he could take the honors.
Hurts sits at +350, closely trailing Barkley as another strong option, particularly if the Eagles secure a victory. Kelce rounds out the list at +1500 (+1800 on FanDuel and +1600 on Caesars), making him a longshot, despite his crucial role in the Chiefs' offense.
Bettors can even wager on whether the MVP award will go to a QB. Caesars lists Yes at -175 and No at +145.
Gatorade Bath
Betting on the color of the Gatorade shower given to the winning coach has become a popular novelty wager. Orange has been the most frequently chosen color in past Super Bowls, but blue has been the selection for the last two championships.
This year, purple leads the odds (not all US sportsbooks offer the Gatorade prop). An alternative option exists at +2000 for no liquid being poured at all.
Here's how FanDuel oddsmakers rank the possibilities:
- Purple: +200
- Yellow/Lime or Green: +210
- Orange: +500
- Blue: +650
- Red/Pink: +750
- Water/Clear: +1000
National Anthem
The National Anthem performance has become a frequent subject of betting activity, with oddsmakers timing each rendition to the second. Previous performances have varied significantly, such as Alicia Keys' rendition at Super Bowl XLVII lasting 2 minutes and 36 seconds. Country singer Reba McEntire's version at Super Bowl LVIII last year was one minute and 36 seconds.
This is the consensus for the Over/Under on the length of the National Anthem among most sportsbooks that offer the option:
- Over 1 minute and 30.5 seconds: +102
- Under 1 minute and 30.5 seconds: -128
Super Bowl LX
Looking ahead to next season, the early odds for the NFL Championship show a tight race at the top. Both the Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens hold the best odds at +525 on Fanatics. Caesars gives the Chiefs +580 and the Ravens +650, tied with the Buffalo Bills.
The Detroit Lions follow closely at +650 on Fanatics, marking their emergence as a legitimate contender. The Bills are positioned at +800, indicating solid but slightly longer odds compared to the top teams. The Eagles sit at +1000 on Fanatics, but +750 on Caesars.
