2024-25 Premier League Boxing Day: The Title at Stake?
One thing is certain: our Premier League prediction could very well be decided in the coming days in England… Boxing Day matches will be key in the race for the Premier League title this year, and the packed schedule can have a major impact.
While everyone was expecting Manchester City to be in the fight for the crown, we now have a real three-way battle between Liverpool, who are in the lead, Chelsea, in second place, and Arsenal, in third.
With a solid lead (5 points ahead with a game in hand), Liverpool could move closer to their 20th English title by managing their upcoming fixtures between late December and early January. With that being said, nothing is set in stone and as we’ve seen so far this season, plenty of surprises could be in store.

Boxing Day: Stats from the Last Two Years
Now, let's get to what you’re probably most interested in for your sports betting on this Boxing Day 2024: the stats that will help you best prepare your future bets. Here are some key figures from the last two editions of Boxing Day:
- Home wins: 35%
- Draws: 5%
- Away wins: 60%
- Average goals per match: 3.65
- Matches with +1.5 goals: 100%
- Matches with +2.5 goals: 85%
- Matches with +3.5 goals: 55%
- Matches with BTTS (Both teams to score): 65%
- Matches with more goals in the first half: 30%
- Matches with more goals in the second half: 45%
- Matches with equal goals in both halves: 25%
- Most common score: 3-1 (30% of matches)
- A player scores 2 or more goals: 25% of matches
Some stats are striking. For example, the home win rate is extremely low, with visitors winning 6 out of 10 times. This might not be the case this year as the favorites are playing at home (such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal), but beware of surprises! These numbers aren't there by chance.
Additionally, the average number of goals is very high, as are the Over bets. In general, Boxing Day has been known for high-scoring games, and this has been the case for many years now. With a season that’s also seeing high numbers (3.03 goals per match, 83% of Over 1.5, 60% of Over 2.5, and 35% of Over 3.5), this Boxing Day should follow the trend! Offered at interesting odds, these bets certainly seem worth considering.
Finally, other figures could offer you attractive odds for your upcoming Premier League bets. Notably, nearly half of the goals are scored in the second half, and the most common score in the last two Boxing Days has been 3-1, occurring in 3 out of 10 matches. Also, the fact that a player scores at least a brace in a quarter of the matches is an important statistic. You’re now ready to bet on this exciting Boxing Day ahead. Good luck with your bets!
