Euro 2024: SportyTrader's Projected Bracket
As you can see, we expect a magnificent tournament, where the big favorites should indeed make their presence felt. We anticipate a final four featuring England, Germany, France, and Portugal! Note also that we foresee a very strong performance from the host nation, potentially eliminating Spain and Portugal to qualify for the ultimate match. This would set the stage for a massive final, where we envision the brilliant English generation finally being crowned champions for the very first time in their history!
What are our predictions based on?
If you want more explanations and details about the reasoning of our experts, feel free to continue reading this article. Below, you’ll find a list of the most important aspects considered by our specialists:
- The squad of each nation
- The form of key players
- Support from the fans
- Statistics of each team
- History of head-to-head matches
- Performance in previous competitions/qualifying phases
As you can understand, our main argument focuses on the squad of each nation. A superstar team like England, Germany, or France obviously has a much better chance on paper of winning this Euro 2024 than Scotland or Hungary. However, while we use this to develop our prediction bracket, we do not rely on it entirely. We've seen in the last two editions that it wasn't necessarily the two best teams with the best players who won the trophy, but rather the strength of a united group and collective.
The form of the players is also quite an important argument in working on our bracket. Indeed, while on paper, players like Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz, and Antoine Griezmann are all excellent players, we can say that the latter two have been in much better form in recent weeks with Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen compared to the vice-captain of the Blues with Atlético... And this will be important in this tournament, which is very short and where players sometimes do not have time to regain their form.
Furthermore, the support of the fans will also be important. The advantage of this Euro is that it is being held in Germany, which is roughly in the center of Europe. Many people will be able to travel to support their nation, and we should see some fantastic atmospheres in the stands! While Germany obviously has a slight advantage in this regard, a few other countries should also benefit greatly from their supporters. We are thinking, for example, of Turkey, England, or Hungary! Other aspects, such as each country's statistics in recent competitions, head-to-head history, performance in previous tournaments, and during the qualifiers, have also been considered.
As you can understand, our sports betting experts have reviewed the main aspects for each team in this Euro 2024 to create the most accurate prediction bracket possible. Of course, this remains a challenging exercise, and any new development (a red card at the start of a match, an injury to a key player, lack of luck) could disrupt it, but we wanted to join in the fun, as we do for every competition! As a reminder, during the last Africa Cup of Nations, we predicted that Ivory Coast would reach the final and win the title... Will this year finally be the one for England? We'll find out in a few weeks! If you agree with our predictions, don't wait to take advantage of the great odds offered by sportsbooks for a Three Lions victory!
Our view of the qualifiers
In the group stage, we anticipate very few surprises, with Group A likely to be dominated by Germany followed by Switzerland. For the third position, we chose Hungary over Scotland, although Scotland should not be underestimated as they have a very interesting squad and collective. The Hungarians would then qualify among the best third-placed teams. In Group B, Spain and Italy should finish at the top after a very tight battle. Croatia, led by Luka Modric, should be among the best third-placed teams and secure their ticket to the round of 16. Group C, which includes England, should see the Three Lions winning all their matches, leaving second and third places to Denmark and Serbia.
Here is the group that probably interests most of you, the one with France. Similar to the Spain/Italy duel, we foresee a close contest between France and the Netherlands, with Didier Deschamps' men finishing narrowly in first place. Austria and Poland, on the other hand, might struggle to secure a spot in the round of 16. Group E seems very balanced to us, with Belgium standing out and likely to win all three of their matches. In second place, we expect Ukraine, which has excellent players. Finally, Group F, with Portugal, who we believe will also take 9 points. Behind them, we see the Czech Republic in second place and Turkey among the best third-placed teams, although it should be a very close contest between these two nations on the last match day.
As for the knockout stage, we also foresee very few surprises, with the favorites likely to live up to their status until the end. We would then have a magnificent final four featuring France, England, Germany, and Portugal! We chose Germany, which has a superb generation mixing youth (Wirtz, Musiala, Sané, Havertz) and experience (Rudiger, Neuer, Gundogan), to qualify against a Portuguese team that we find disappointing in recent competitions, despite having a very strong team on paper. And, regarding the other semi-final, our prediction might not please everyone, but England has such an exceptional team with players in top form. While France has a strong team on paper, many players are already out due to injury or might start Euro 2024 out of form. We chose reason and see the Three Lions reaching the final and eventually winning the trophy for the first time in their long history!
