From Texas to the Netherlands
After last week’s action in France, where the Open Occitanie took place in Montpellier, the ATP Tour train arrives in both Rotterdam this week, where the ABN AMRO Open takes place. There’s also top-tier tennis taking place in Dallas, where we have the Dallas Open.
There’s plenty for tennis fans and bettors alike to get stuck into over the coming days, so if you’re looking for bets, don’t forget to check out our tennis predictions page, while if you want some pre-tournament bets for either Rotterdam or Dallas, read on below.
ATP 500 Rotterdam
For those playing their hard-court tennis in Europe this week, it’s all about the Dutch city of Rotterdam, where some of the biggest names in the sport will be in action.
Four of the world’s top ten will be in action here, with world number three Carlos Alcaraz slotting in as the highest-ranked player. Next comes world number seven Daniil Medvedev, who has won this tournament previously, while Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev make up the big-boy contingent.
In the betting, unsurprisingly, Carlos Alcaraz has been installed as the pre-tournament favorite, priced at +195 to land the prize, with Medvedev in as +430 second favorite.
Before we go any further, let’s look at the recent winners of this tournament:
- 2024 - Jannik Sinner beat Alex de Minaur
- 2023 - Daniil Medvedev beat Jannik Sinner
- 2022 - Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Stefanos Tsitsipas
- 2021 - Andrey Rublev beat Marton Fucsovics
- 2020 - Gael Monfils beat Felix Auger-Aliassime
The rather short price available on Alcaraz (and Medvedev) has perhaps allowed some of the other likely lads to come in at potentially generous odds.
- Andrey Rublev won this tournament back in 2021, so there will likely be a few bettors who think odds of +1600 are a little big, while Alex de Minaur supporters may fancy the Aussie to make a splash at odds of +1000.
For my money, I like the look of Felix Auger-Aliassime. Not only has the Canadian made a very pleasing start to the 2025 season, winning the hard-court event in Hobart, Australia last month, before taking the prize in Montpellier last week too, but this is a man who has thrived in Rotterdam before, and not just once.
Having lost to Gael Monfils in the final back in 2020, Auger-Aliassime, who really can tussle with the very best on hard courts, went one better and lifted the trophy back in 2022.
With the 24-year-old playing some of the best tennis of his career in recent weeks, given his clear liking for this tournament, I really wouldn’t be surprised if he enjoyed himself this week, and I’m just not sure that odds of +1600 reflect his chances accurately enough. In other words, such odds offer value for money.
Our ATP 500 Rotterdam prediction: Felix Auger-Aliassime to win the title +1600
ATP 500 Dallas
In the US, we’re in Dallas, where for the fourth time since gaining ATP Tour status in 2022, the Dallas Open takes place.
As is the case at the tournament in Rotterdam, some big-name players will take to the courts in Dallas this week.
The list of hopefuls includes last year’s winner Tommy Paul, who is back to defend his crown, though the world number nine is not the favorite to claim the title. In fact, Paul enters the tournament as the third favorite, priced at odds of +700, which to some, may look a little generous given his exploits last year.
- As the highest-ranked player lining up, Taylor Fritz, now ranked as the fourth-best male player on the planet, goes down as the pre-tournament favorite, available to bettors at +340.
Here are the recent winners of the ATP event in Dallas:
- 2024 - Tommy Paul beat Marcos Giron
- 2023 - Wu Yibing beat John Isner
- 2022 - Reilly Opelka beat Jenson Brooksby
Separating Fritz and Paul is another of the US hopefuls Ben Shelton. At the time of writing, on the eve of the tournament, the explosive youngster is priced to +550 to beat all comers to the title.
As far as I’m concerned, at odds of +1100, Casper Ruud looks a good bet ahead of this event.
Having reached both a US Open final and a Miami Open final in the last couple of years, we know that Casper Ruud can get down to business on US hard courts, while we’re also talking about a player in-form.
Ruud will arrive in Dallas having won his two recent Davis Cup matches in straight sets, while he’s lost just one of his last eight matches in general, beating some very good players such as Machac and Hurkacz during that time.
If we go back to late 2024, Ruud could be seen beating both Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev at the ATP Finals in Turin, so it’s probably fair to say that his hard-court game has been in decent shape for a while.
With only one higher-ranked player in the field, and not on Ruud’s side of the draw, I’d say that this is a better opportunity for the Norwegian to go all the way than the outright odds suggest.
Our ATP Dallas prediction: Casper Ruud to win the title +1100
