What are some of the top live betting markets for cricket?

What are some of the top live betting markets for cricket?

Cricket is one of the easiest sports to enjoy Live or In-Play betting on. Its sedentary pace means that bettors are not under as much pressure to make split-second decisions on markets. Furthermore, the nature of the game means that there are a wide choice of In-Play markets to bet on.

Below are some of the most popular in-play betting markets for T20, One Day and Test Match cricket. If a market is only usually available in live betting for one or two of the three major forms of cricket, this is displayed in brackets.

Here the list of the most popular in-play

  • Match Winner 3-Way

This is a bet on which of the two teams will win the current match, or whether the game will end up in a draw. In some forms of cricket, a draw may not be a viable result, so there may only be a 2-way option here, or this option will not be included in the Live markets.

  • Draw No Bet

A similar bet to the above which is a bet on which team will win the current match with the draw not available.

Both these first two in-play bets are based on the current situation within the game being played. So if a team makes a very good or very bad start, the odds on them winning will either shorten, or increase as a result.

  • Number of runs off the next delivery

This bet is one that changes most frequently in In Play betting but it is a very simple bet on how many runs will be scored on the next delivery in the current over.

Markets are offered as an Over/Under option with Over/Under 0.5 runs one option and Over/Under 3.5 runs another.

  • Number of runs in the next over

This is a bet on how many runs will be scored in the next over bowled in the game. This is another bet with an Under or Over option, with the mark usually set around 3.5 runs.

  • Total Current Innings Runs for Batting Team

As an innings progresses, the projection for how many runs the batting team will score will change. This market is another Over/Under option which will have one or more projected total runs achieved for the batting teams shown.

For example, if a team has made a good start you may see Over/Under options for over 440 runs, over 490 runs or over 540 runs.

But if a team has made a poor start then you may see options for over 150 runs, 200 runs or 240 runs. You can also see options to bet on a scoring range (such as between 440 and 540 runs) in this market too.

  • Number of Runs in first 20, 30, 40, 50 etc overs

As an innings progresses punters can bet on the number of runs that will be scored by the batting team in the first 20 then 30, then 40 overs and so on.

This market is another over/under bet with the bookmaker selecting what they feel is an average score for the team in the next milestone of overs, based on their current position, form and the strength of the bowling team.

  • Method of Next Dismissal – 6-Way

This is a bet with six different options and it is a wager on how the next batsman will be dismissed in the current innings.

The options available are usually:

  • Caught
  • Bowled
  • LBW (Leg Before Wicket)
  • Run Out
  • Stumped
  • Any other form of dismissal (such as Hit Wicket, Hit the ball twice, handled the ball or obstructing the field)

Caught, Bowled, LBW and Run Out are the most common methods of dismissal so they usually have much lower prices than the other options.

  • Caught or Not Caught Next Dismissal

A simplified version of the bet above which is simply a decision about whether to back the next batsman to be caught in the next dismissal, or whether they will be out in one of the other ways.

  • Top Batsman Current Innings

This bet is on a selection from a list of the 11 batters in a team on which one of them will score the most runs in the current innings. Specialist batsmen are shorter priced options here, especially if one of the players has already scored a significant number of runs in the innings.

  • Next Batsman Out

A bet on which of the two batsmen currently at the crease will be the next one to be dismissed.

Player Specific Bets

  • Runs scored in current innings

This is a bet on how many runs a named player (such as Joe Root) would score in the current innings. Usually, three options are available, each being an Over/Under bet for a lower number, mid-range number and higher number of runs.

  • To reach 50, 100, 150 etc runs

If a batter is scoring well, then you will find an option to bet on them reaching a milestone amount in their innings, starting with 50, but moving on to 100 and if they surpass that then fresh milestones of 150, 200 and so on may be made available to bet on.

  • Number of runs at fall of next wicket

This is a bet on how many runs the batting team will have scored when the bowling team takes the next wicket.

Options in this market include over/under a par score, as well as options above a high score, below a low score, and between two scores.

  • First Innings Lead (Test Match Cricket Only)

In Test Match cricket, teams have two innings. This is a bet on which of the two teams will have a first innings lead, or if they will score the exact same number of runs.

  • To Score Most Runs - Current Batsmen

A bet on which of the two current batsmen will score the most runs.

  • To Score Most Runs - Selection of Players

A bet on the two current batsmen and at least one other player from the same team, on who will score the most runs in the current innings.

  • Wickets Lost for 50,100, 150, 200 or 250 runs

A bet on how many wickets will be lost for the number of runs. This bet is another over/under option

This list is not exhaustive and different betting sites will offer a range of different markets for cricket live betting. However, if you want a great introduction to betting In Play, cricket is a great choice!
