All punters need to consider the value of the odds when placing their bets. To put it simply: They are a numerical index that is put in place by the bookmakers for each sporting event. It represents the amount the player will win if the bet is successful. As this article will focus on the top-flight of Romanian football, Liga 1, we’ll naturally be referencing Liga 1 betting odds. With a view to finding out how much you can expect to win back by betting on the Romanian league, Liga 1 odds will always influence your analysis.
How are Liga 1 odds calculated?
Bookmakers use statistics and mathematical probabilities for the Liga 1 match you are betting on. As a general rule of thumb: the greater the chances of the event occurring, the lower the odds. On the flip side, the lower the probability of a result occurring, the higher the odds will be. To understand this better, let's take the following example: a Liga 1 match between CFR Cluj and Chindia Targoviste.
CFR Cluj often play one of the leading roles in Liga 1, so it's only logical that they should come into this fixture as favourites against Chindia Targoviste. A bet of "CFR Cluj to win" will not necessarily have very high odds (e.g. 1.55) as there is a good chance that the big favourite will come out on top. The opposite is true of Chindia Targoviste. Bookmakers are finding it hard to envision Chindia Targoviste winning at the expense of one of Liga 1's big guns, so a "Chindia Targoviste to win" bet will offer a much higher payout (e.g. 6.00). The ranking is not the only criterion for setting the odds. Bookmakers will take into account the strength of the two teams, any notable absences, their style of play and recent encounters.
You are likely already aware of this, but bookmakers also offer live betting on Liga 1 matches. Of course, the same principles apply only this time the odds are adjusted as the match progresses in real time. For example, Chindia Targoviste manages to break the deadlock in this match. Not surprisingly, the odds of them winning the match will drop considerably (e.g. from 6.00 to 1.50), while the odds of a CFR Cluj victory will be much higher (e.g. from 1.55 to 2.50).
How to use Liga 1 odds
It's important to know that odds can have several uses. The first, and most evident, is the ability to calculate potential winnings. This numerical indicator lets you know how much you're going to get back if the bet is a winner. Simply multiply the odds by the initial stake you wish to place. This is the total amount that will be credited to your account balance when the bet is successful (odds x stake = potential winnings).
However, there is another use for betting odds. It also allows you to reinforce or reconsider your analysis of a match. Take, for example, a match between FCSB and Botosani. You've analysed this match in great detail and you’ve come to the conclusion that FCSB should ultimately win. With the odds for a home win sitting at 1.30, the bookmakers are clearly thinking along the same lines as you are.
However, what if you are in a situation where the odds don’t match up with your analysis? Let’s look back to the previous example only this time, the odds for a FCSB win are quite high (e.g. 2.00). The bookmakers clearly don’t have the home team as the overwhelming favourites for this match, which is in opposition to your conclusion. There could be several explanations: first up, you'll have to rethink your analysis. You may well have missed a major piece of information; the absence of an important player or the FCSB coach's statement that he wants to rotate the team could make you change your mind. And when it doesn't? There's no information to call your analysis into question. The bookmakers may simply be underestimating FCSB or overvaluing Botosani. In that case, trust your initial analysis and take advantage of the excellent odds!
Bet on the winner of the Romanian Liga 1 with futures markets
Odds aren't just available for individual matches! You can also bet on the future winners and more in various competitions. In addition to which team will lift the title, punters can also place bets on which teams will be relegated, which teams will finish in the top three or four, the top goalscorer and more. It's worth noting that the odds can often be very tempting in these types of markets, especially before the start of the championship. It's a bet that gives you a different kind of thrill to that of a match as you’re able to follow the team that you bet on throughout the entire season!

Want to maximise your winnings by betting on Liga 1? You'll have to look for the highest available odds on the market. It's important to know that the odds for the same bet are not the same at different bookmakers. The differences can sometimes be very large! To take advantage and achieve the best possible winnings, it is therefore vital to compare the odds.
Let's take a match between FC Voluntari and Farul Constanta as an example. You want to place €100 on Farul Constanta to win. You compare all the odds available on the market and see that most bookmakers offer odds of 2.10 for your preferred bet. However, Unibet is offering odds of 2.20! It will therefore be much more profitable to invest your €100 with this bookmaker. You could win €220 in gross winnings, compared with €210 with other operators.
To make sure you don't miss out on the best available odds, you'll need to register with as many betting sites as possible. There's no point in comparing the odds if you don't have an account available to take advantage. By implementing this simple strategy, you can considerably increase your potential winnings over the long term. By now you're fully aware of the usefulness of comparing the odds before betting on Liga 1, so why not use our odds comparator to easily and quickly identify the best betting lines? What's more, you can already find out the odds for the forthcoming Romanian league matches.
