Best Mali Premiere Division Betting Odds
One of the larger African countries also boasts one of its most competitive domestic leagues. The Mali Premiere Division sees 16 teams competing across a 30 games league season that usually runs from December through to August each year.
Since its inception in the mid 1960s, the Mali Premiere Division has been very competitive, but it is three teams that have dominated. Real Bamako have won seven league titles, but they fall behind the top two teams, Djoliba AC and Stade Malien who have both won an incredible 23 league titles apiece.
The winners of the league qualify for the African Champions League, while the Mali Cup Winners qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup. Still largely an amateur league in many respects, the plan is for the league to go fully professional from the 2024/25 season with a total of 14 teams in the top division.
So if you are interested in betting on this intriguing domestic league, let’s now take a look at some of the betting markets and how bookmakers come up with the odds for the teams competing in top level football in Mali.
Mali Premiere Division Betting Odds and Markets Explained
To begin betting on the Mali Premiere Division, you need to know a little about the basics of betting, this includes understanding what betting markets you are likely to find on the games in this division (and the division itself). Then you need to understand a little about the odds available on these markets and what they mean.
In terms of markets, you’ll find that most markets on the Mali Premiere Division games fall into one of three categories. They are either pre-match bets (made before a fixture gets underway), In Play (or Live) bets (which are made when a fixture is in progress) or Futures bets (which are bets made on longer-term markets, such as who will be Champion of the division at the end of the season, or which teams will get relegated to the Malian Division 1.
The most popular type of bets traditionally have been pre-match bets and futures betting and this includes popular markets such as the full-time result market, or the correct score of a game, or popular betting markets such as Over or Under 2.5 Goals to be scored in a game or whether Both Teams will Score in the match or not.
In Play bets are slightly different as these markets can change quickly as a game ebbs and flows. For example, if the odds on a team to win are even money, but then this team gets a player sent off who also commits a penalty in the process, then the odds on that team at this moment will likely lengthen considerably in a very short space of time.
Odds are simply a statement of how likely an event is to happen, in terms of the calculations made by the bookmaker (more on that in the section below). They are an expression of implied probability, with the sorter priced odds events being more likely to happen (such as a Correct Score of 1-0 to one of the teams) as opposed to longer odds events (such as a Correct Score of a 4-4 draw).
However, odds serve a dual purpose. They show the implied probability of an event but also allow you the opportunity to work out how much a bet at the odds started would return to you if you win. For example a £10 bet on a market at 3/1 (4.00) would see you earn a £40 total return, £30 in winnings and your £10 betting stake back.
Odds of 3/1 mean that the bookmaker feels the event has a 25% chance of occurring compared to all other possible outcomes.
Understanding your Mali Premiere League markets and odds are vital as the first steps to enjoying better judged betting on the league,
How are Mali Premiere Division betting odds calculated?
Knowing what odds mean and how they can be applied with your stake to work out your potential winnings is one thing, but understanding how odds are applied to betting markets is very different and while not really a huge requirement for punters, it is beneficial to know how odds are calculated so you can appreciate the way that your bookmaker operates.
Nowadays, there are complex algorithms used to work out the odds for all the odds on a betting site. These algorithms can take into account a huge amount of data for every market, and they will then work through that to come up with the initial odds suggested for a market. Some bookies will also appoint a risk assessor or odds maker to ensure that these odds are what is required for that market.
Of course, setting the odds is one thing, but the odds can then fluctuate based on how much money is taken on the variety of options available in a market. For example, if in the Full Time Result market, 80% of the bets are being made on the home team winning, then the bookmaker will likely reduce the odds on this market and increase the odds on the draw and away win markets to even the markets out and ensure that they can still turn a small profit, or not risk losing too much, on this one market.
Given that bookmakers can offer an extensive range of odds across hundreds of markets for a single fixture, you can peruse the odds to find the best value bets you think are available for each market.
However, doing that is time consuming and a bit limiting. But there is an alternative option as we will explore below.
Why are odds important for your Mali Premiere Division bets?
Odds are very important to your betting experience as they will be the tool which translates your wager into (hopefully) winnings and of course, when you place a bet, you want to get the best odds on that bet to collect more in winnings from the bookmaker.
So odds are not just important in terms of the bookmaker creating and maintaining them on markets. They are also important as a comparative tool between bookmaking sites who will try to compete to offer the best odds on the market.
You can use this competition and difference in the value of odds with different bookmakers to your advantage by making one wise decision which will transform the way you bet and will offer you a much better chance of bigger returns for every bet you make from here onwards.
Register with a variety of bookmakers!
As we have mentioned previously, finding the best odds is key to more returns over the longer term and the best way to do this is to register with as many bookmakers as is realistic for you to be able to cope with. By being able to spread your bets across many different betting sites, you can ensure that whatever the market for your Mali Premiere League fixture, you will get the best price (or as close to it) as possible.
The difference in odds may only be small for one bet, but if you add up those extra winnings over a year, two years, ten years or longer, you can soon see that this adds up into a considerable amount of money – simply by having the option to bet with a selection of betting sites.
Nobody would want to take a 3-1 winning bet on a market, if there was a 4-1 or even 5-1 available with another bookmaker. So why would you? Keep your options open by having several accounts and not only do you get better odds, but you also get the added benefits of having the opportunity to accept a number of Welcome Offers from bookmakers too.
