The Egypt Premier League, also known as the Nile League, is without doubt one of the strongest domestic leagues in the whole of Africa. It is home to some of the continent’s most successful club teams, and one of its most successful member nations on the international stage too.
A total of 18 teams compete in the Egyptian Premier League and its season runs alongside most European seasons, from August through to May. Unlike many other leagues though, Egyptian teams play their league games across all days of the week.
Nile League winners qualify for the African Champions League along with the runners up. Egyptian teams have won this tournament a record 16 times. Egypt also enters two teams into the CAF Confederation Cup each season. The bottom three teams in the division are relegated to the Egyptian Second League.
Given its 34-game season, there’s plenty of great betting to enjoy on the Egypt Premier League. In the rest of this post, we will explain a little about the betting markets and odds that you can bet on. Additionally, we’ll also give you a tip on how to get the best betting odds for every Nile League bet you make over the course of the season.
Egypt Premier League Betting Odds And Markets
Betting on the Egypt Premier League is simple. However, to do it well and give yourself a better chance of landing a winner, you do need an understanding of a couple of fundamentals. These are the betting markets you can bet on and also the betting odds which are offered on these markets.
Betting markets are simple to understand. They are just the different bets offered by a bookmaker on an event. They can be short-term bets such as the markets match in the Egypt Premier League, or longer-term (sometimes called Futures) bets, like who will win the Egypt Premier League this season.
A market is simply the list of outcomes that the bookmaker will accept bets on. For example, the full-time result market is a very popular soccer bet. Other popular football bets include First Goalscorer, Correct Score Bets, Half Time/Full Time bets, Total Goals and Both Teams to Score bets. Popular longer term betting markets include betting on the Egypt Premier League winner, or the top goalscorer, or who will be relegated from the division.
Odds go hand-in-hand with betting markets. The odds simply state how likely the bookmaker feels an event is to happen. For example, in the Full-Time Result market, a bookmaker will give odds on the home team winning, away team winning and the draw, based on how likely it feels each outcome is given the two teams competing.
Therefore, odds are the implied probability of an event happening. The shorter the odds, the more likely the bookmakers feel an event will happen. The longer the odds, the less likely they feel it will occur.
Bookmakers’ express odds in a number of different formats. Fractional (2/1, 11/8, 100/30), Decimal (2.57, 3.5, 17.00) and American (+300, -100, +1175) but these values are all relative to each other. 2/1 in fractional betting is the same as +200 in American Odds and 3.00 in Decimal Odds.
A good tip for newcomers to betting is to use decimal odds initially as it makes working out your potential returns much easier as the calculation is simply Your Stake x Decimal Odds (for example, £100 x 2.75 would mean a £275 return if your bet is a winner).
Odds and markets are the lifeblood of all betting, one doesn’t work without the other. So let’s now get to know how a bookmaker compiles their odds, and then how they manage them when the markets open.
How are betting odds calculated for the Egypt Premier League?
Bookmakers calculate odds for all Egypt Premier League markets (and indeed, every betting market) using a process called an algorithm.
An algorithm is a very complex calculation that considers a huge number of factors to come up with the odds shown for a market. However, calling it a calculation is slightly misleading, as it is more a process that is constantly evaluated, especially when the betting markets open.
For example, a bookmaker may come up with opening full time result odds for a Zamalek v Al Ahly game in the Nile League of 3.25 for Zamalek to win, 1.75 for Al Ahly to win and 5.00 for the draw. However, they are the opening market odds.
Once bettors start placing bets, the algorithm will calculate whether the odds need adjusting to mitigate the risk for the bookmaker. This is why odds can shorten in value, or lengthen in value.
For many years, these calculations were conducted by a team of human risk assessors and odds makers and was very labour intensive. Nowadays, the algorithm can complete the calculatiosn required in a fraction of a second across hundreds of markets.
Why are the odds so important for your Egypt Premier League bets?
Now we know what odds mean, how they can be used and how the bookmaker formulates the odds. The next step is to understand why odds are important to you as a bettor, and how you can use odds in a productive and more profitable way.
When a bookmaker produces odds, what one bookie offers on a market will be different to another. Generally, the prices are close to each other. One bookmaker may offer even money, another 10/11 and another still 11/10. So why would you want either of the lower prices, if the 11/10 is available?
You wouldn’t. Because if you bet £100 on odds of 10/11, you would receive back £190.91 if the bet was a winner. If it was even money, it would be £200, but at 11/10, you would receive back £210.
So that slight difference in odds, means a £19.09 difference between the lower value odds and he highest. Now imagine that difference extrapolated over weeks, months or years of winning bets at the highest amount.
It is easy to see why odds are so important, and that better value odds are most important.
Now the question is; how do you ensure you get them?
Top Tip for Betting Value - Register with several bookmakers!
We understand different bookmakers offer varying odds for the same market. What this presents is an opportunity for customers to get the best value odds on a bet.
And the easiest way to do this is to open an account with several different bookmakers. In fact, the more accounts you open and can run, the better.
Why is that the case? Well, we already know that for the same market, different bookies will offer different odds. So, it stands to reason that if you have an account with the bookmaker offering the best odds, you’ll get paid more if your bet wins.
Unfortunately, it is not the same bookmaker that always offers the best odds. Therefore, in order to land them, you need to have as many accounts as possible with as many bookies as possible.
There is also a hidden benefit to doing this and that is by joining several betting sites, you can access numerous Welcome Bonuses.
Welcome offers will often give a customer a chance at a reward or bonus that gives them some benefits on the site. This could be free bets, or bet credits, all of which can be used alongside deposited cash.
Additionally, having multiple accounts means that you can access a host of other bonuses and features on different sites. All these little extras can enhance your betting experience on the Egypt Premier League still further.
For the best Egypt Premier League odds, and as many starter bonuses as you can handle, remember to open as many betting accounts as you can comfortably manage.
