The 2024-25 La Liga and Bundesliga seasons are set to resume following the festive break, and below we will provide our top goalscorer forecasts for some of this weekend’s best matches.

Atleti Sharp Shooters Expected to Shine in La Liga

On the final matchday of 2024, we witnessed a potentially defining moment in the ongoing La Liga season, as Atletico Madrid came back from a goal down to beat Barcelona 2-1 at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. That win saw Los Colchoneros end the year at the top of the league standings, three points ahead of Barca and one above Real Madrid, and with a game in hand on both, who will not be in action this weekend owing to their participation in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The victory over Blaugrana was the first in 18 years for Diego Simeone’s side in Catalonia, and it took a moment of brilliance in the dying seconds of the match to bring an end to that 24-match drought. The provider was none other than Alexander Sorloth! That strike also took the Norwegian to eight goals in 18 games this season - joint-fifth in the race for the Pichichi award - while he is now also the third-best for goals per 90 minutes behind Robert Lewandowski and Ayoze Perez.

What makes Sorloth’s record remarkable this season is that he has been used almost solely as a substitute in the top flight yet has found the net in four of his last five appearances. Bookmakers are giving the 29-year-old around a 40% chance to add to his tally this weekend with odds of 2.20 available with Bet365. However, if you are unsettled by Sorloth’s playing time, Julian Alvarez could be a solid backup at 2.20 while Antoine Griezmann is priced at a very attractive 2.40 to score anytime.

Real Betis’ Dynamic Duo to Light Up the Scoreboard

On Saturday, Real Betis will make the trip to Estadio Jose Zorrilla to face basement club Valladolid and Los Verdiblancos will firmly be expecting to leave the match with all three points.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side ended 2024 unbeaten in their final three league matches and returned in the New Year with a 1-0 victory over Huesca in the Copa del Rey last week thanks to an educated outside-of-the-foot strike by Isco, who made just his fourth appearance and second start since returning from a broken leg.

The former Real Madrid attacker’s first start came in Betis’ last league match of 2024, in which he donned the captain’s armband and also found the net. Given his showing in the cup last week, the Spaniard is almost certain to make the starting lineup this weekend and could return for his backers handsomely, with the latest La Liga odds showing him at 3.50 to score anytime. As a close alternative, we’re going with Isco’s attacking partner Giovani Lo Celso to get on the scoresheet. The Argentine has netted seven times in 12 league games this term, including two of his last three starts, and can be locked in at 3.80.

All our football forecasts will be available throughout the weekend and you can also stay up to the minute with all the action from Spain and Germany using our La Liga Livescore and Bundesliga Livescore tools.

Bavarians On Target In the Bundesliga?

Bayern Munich

Over to this weekend’s Bundesliga fixture list and it’s hard to look beyond Bayern Munich, who kick off 2025 at the top of the league standings. The Bavarians are being pressured though, with defending champions Bayer Leverkusen just four points behind and entering the New Year with momentum having ended December in great shape.

Vincent Kompany’s men were without their talisman Harry Kane for two of three matches last month and lost one of those to FSV Mainz, but the striker featured in a friendly against RB Salzburg last week and should be part of the starting lineup when his side travel to Borussia-Park to face Monchengladbach on Saturday evening. The England captain is the leading scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 14 goals in 13 matches and has netted nine times in his last six league games. Kane is currently showing up at 1.65 to score anytime.

Aside from the Three Lions skipper, there are another couple of players to consider. Jamal Musiala is now up to nine goals in just 13 appearances, including four in his last four matches while Leroy Sane scored in each of his last two league games and bagged a brace in last week’s friendly. Musiala is currently priced at 2.50 according to the updated Bundesliga odds and Sane will return 2.75 to score before the final whistle.

Leverkusen Stars Lead This Week’s Scorer Forecasts

There is no talking about Bundesliga marksmen right now without mentioning Bayer Leverkusen’s frontman Patrik Schick. The Czech Republic international smashed in four of Die Werkself’s five goals in their last league match, taking his tally to an incredible nine in his last five games, including two hat-tricks in his last three starts for the reigning champions.

Schick’s teammate Florian Wirtz is another to keep an on this weekend, as the 2023-24 Player of the Year has scored in his last three league games and made direct goal contributions in each of his last six. Wirtz has featured in all 15 top-flight matches for Xabi Alonso this season and has returned either a goal or assist in 10 of those games. Schick can be backed to score against Borussia Dortmund at 2.80 while Wirtz will pocket you 3.30 to net anytime with most of the Best Online Betting Sites
