The stadiums for Euro 2024 in Germany
Taking place from 14 June to 14 July 2024 in Germany, the European Football Championship is the event that everyone is looking forward to during a very busy summer that also includes the Copa America and the Olympic Games.

Red Bull Arena (Leipzig)
Built between 2000 and 2004, the Red Bull Arena (formerly the Zentralstadion) now hosts matches for local club RB Leipzig, who play in the Bundesliga and almost every year in the Champions League. The stadium already hosted matches at the 2006 World Cup, and this will be its second major international competition. With a current capacity of 47,069, the stadium has been renovated twice, in 2015 and 2021.

RheinEnergieStadion (Cologne)
Built in 1923, the Müngersdorfer Stadion, as it was then known, became the RheinEnergieStadion in 2002. Renovated between 1972 and 1975 and again in 2002 and 2004, this will be the third major competition to be played at this stadium in Cologne. In addition to Euro 2024, the stadium has already hosted Euro 1988 and the 2006 World Cup. The Three Lions and the Tartan Army each will play one of their group stage matches at this ground!

Merkur Spiel-Arena (Düsseldorf)
Officially opened in January 2004, the Merkur Spiel-Arena is a multi-sports stadium with a retractable roof. It has just hosted Euro 2024 handball, for example. Formerly known as the ESPRIT Arena, it is home to Fortuna Düsseldorf all year round and has a maximum capacity of 54,600.

Volksparkstadion (Hambourg)
The stadium, home to Hamburg's legendary club, has a capacity of around 57,000. Known as the Volksparkstadion between 1953 and 2000, and since 2015, it was inaugurated in September 2023. Euro 2024 won’t be its first time hosting an international competition, having already hosted the 1974 World Cup, Euro 1988 and the 2006 World Cup!

Deutsche Bank Park (Frankfurt)
Built in 1925 and known as the Waldstadion until 2005, the stadium now has a capacity of around 58,000. Already the host stadium for the 1978 FIFA World Cup, Euro 1988 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup, it also hosted the Women's World Cup in 2021. Every year, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt play at the stadium. Keep an eye out for this one as this is where the English national team will take on Denmark for the second group stage game!

MHPArena (Stuttgart)
Better known as the Mercedes-Benz Arena (between 2008 and 2023), this arena was inaugurated in 1933. Now home to VfB Stuttgart, the MHPArena has a capacity of around 60,449. Like most of the stadiums chosen for Euro 2024, it has already hosted major competitions: the 1974 World Cup, Euro 1988 and the 2006 World Cup. This is where you can watch Scotland conclude their group stage campaign against Hungary.

Veltins-Arena (Gelsenkirchen)
With a capacity of around 62,271, the Veltins-Arena is home to Schalke 04 every year. The stadium has also hosted the Champions League final in 2004 and the 2006 World Cup. It's a superb stadium, with a retractable roof and a very unusual look from the inside, with its 4 screens positioned above the pitch. Watch England kick off their group stage campaign at this venue when they take on Serbia!

Olympiastadion (Berlin)
The Olympiastadion, translated from German as the Berlin Olympic Stadium, has a capacity of around 74,667. It is not only the historic home of Hertha Berlin, but also the stadium where the German Cup final is held every year. Inaugurated in 1936 for the Summer Olympics, it later hosted the 1974 World Cup. It was renovated in 2000 to be ready for the 2006 World Cup, which was a painful final for the people of France. Since then, it has hosted the 2015 Champions League final.

Allianz Arena (Munich)
For football fans, this stadium needs no introduction. Home to Bayern Munich every year, the famous Allianz Arena is one of the major stadiums of the competition (seating around 75,024), hosting the opening match and a semi-final. Built between 2002 and 2005, it hosted 6 matches at the 2006 World Cup and was one of the 11 venues selected for the historic Euro 2020 tournament, which was played all over Europe. It was also the host stadium for the Champions League final in 2012, and will be again for the 2025 final! Scotland will kick off their group stage at this stadium in a huge match against the host nation.

Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund)
Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, will be a very important stadium during the competition, as it will be hosting a round of 16 and a semi-final! A mythical stadium that many football fans would like to see in person at least once, it will not be able to open to its full capacity during the Euros. Although the stadium usually holds around 82,000 people, UEFA has indicated that it can hold 20,000 fewer on its official website in its presentation of the stadium.
