Football: the race for best scorer in Europe's top leagues

Premier League: Mohamed Salah champion, extended contract and PL's top scorer?
The Liverpool Reds are enjoying a superb season in the league, and are just a few points away from confirming our Premier League prediction that they will be champions in 2024/2025.
And if there's one man who has led them to the top this year, it's Egypt's Mohamed Salah. A true club legend, the right winger is continuing to write his marvellous history on the Mersey, and has been on fire this season: 27 goals and 18 assists in 32 games.
A simply incredible record, which puts him 6 goals ahead of Erling Haaland (21 goals in 28 games). With only 6 games left in the PL and the Norwegian cyborg expected to be out until almost the end of the season, Salah is unlikely to finish as top scorer.
Having recently been extended by Liverpool, he will still be keeping an eye on the excellent Alexander Isak, who has been sensational in recent weeks and also has 21 goals to his name. As good as he is, the gap still seems too wide in our opinion, and Salah could then win this honorary title for the fourth time in his career after 2018, 2019 and 2022. Historic!
La Liga: Kylian Mbappé and Robert Lewandowski go head to head
This is undoubtedly the championship where the suspense is greatest! Both for the future champion, as confirmed by our La Liga prediction, and for the Pichichi, the top scorer in the Spanish league.
The situation is very simple: the Polish international is ahead with 25 goals, while the captain of the French national team is 3 goals behind, with a total of 22!
Kylian Mbappe may lose some ground this weekend (he will be suspended against Athletic Bilbao following his red card against Alavés last weekend), but he is not about to give up.
Having just been knocked out of the Champions League with Real, and with his chances of winning La Liga looking slim, he could well make personal trophies his end-of-year goal. A great battle awaits us!
Serie A: a surprising top 3 and a leader alone in front
When we were thinking about Serie A's potential top scorer at the start of the season, all the observers mentioned players such as Lautaro Martinez, as was the case for our Serie A prediction, Romelu Lukaku, Dusan Vlahovic or even Artem Dovbyk, who was exceptional in Spanish La Liga last year.
And yet! The current leader is Atalanta Bergamo striker Mateo Retegui, who has 23 goals in 30 games. He is followed by former Parisian Moise Kean, now with Fiorentina, who has scored 17 times this season, and Marcus Thuram with 14 goals.
As for the future top scorer in the Italian championship, there is no real suspense and we can see the Nazionale striker being crowned Capocannoniere for this 2024-2025 edition of Serie A.
Bundesliga: Sir Harry once again in his second year in Bavaria
He may not have won the Bundesliga last year because of surprise package Bayer Leverkusen, but Harry Kane shone in his own right, scoring 36 goals. An incredible record for a first season, but not really unexpected for a player of his class.
This year, according to our Bundesliga prediction, he should win the first trophy of his career by finishing as German champion. But his goal is not just a collective one!
He intends to maintain his status as top scorer, having scored 23 times in 27 games, ahead of Leverkusen's Patrik Schick, who has 17 league goals to his name. It's hard to see the Czech catching up with the Englishman, especially as there are only 5 games left to play!
Ligue 1: Ousmane Dembelle to replace Kylian Mbappe
One thing is certain, very few people would have bet on the French international to finish top scorer in the French league. Often mocked and criticised for his cruel lack of efficiency, the Paris No10 has transformed himself this season into a real finisher.
And yet the cards seemed to have been completely reshuffled with the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, who had won this honorary title for the last 6 seasons. The likes of David, Lacazette, Ajorque, Mikautadze and Goncalo Ramos were all expected to score as predicted in our Ligue 1 prediction.
O. Dembélé has scored 32% of his professional goals this season (32/100).
But it is Ousmane Dembele who has lit up the league with his talent this year, and has already scored 21 goals in 26 games this season. He is ahead of Marseille's Mason Greenwood and his 16 goals (in 29 games).
With only 5 league games left (6 for PSG, whose game against Nantes was postponed between the two matches against Aston Villa), it is hard to see the former Manchester United player catching up with the former BVB and Barcelona player.
