Man.City - PSG
Between Luiz earning an unwanted record to Fernando gifting the Paris equalizer, one thing we can be sure of is that the second leg will have us all fixed to our television screens next Tuesday.
The First-leg:
The game started with quite a high tempo. City immediately went on the attack which forced David Luiz to drag back Aguero as the little Argentine made his way past the big Brazilian and through on goal. The former Chelsea man was shown a yellow card after only twelve seconds making him the quickest players to get booked in the tournaments history. He is now subsequently banned for the return leg. City drew first blood in the 38th minute as Fernandinho broke from midfield and slipped in De Bruyne, who finished with a fine strike beyond the reach of Kevin Trapp. Paris’ response was almost instant. As Joe Hart played the ball to Fernando from a goal kick, the former Porto man inexplicably tried to pass the ball across his own goal which deflected off Ibrahimovic and flew past the helpless hart. PSG were level without any real effort.
Laurent Blanc’s side emerged from the dressing rooms a different side. They controlled the game and were rewarded when Rabiot steered the ball home from close range. The young Frenchman managed to get on the end of a Cavani header after Hart could only parry the well timed header. PSG were in full control now and looked as if they were going to add to their lead. However, only thirteen short minutes later City drew level. After a good move down the right wing, neither Silva or Aurier could deal with a Sagna cross as Fernandinho profited to fire a deflected shot into the far corner. Both sides kept pressing late on but the game finished all square, much to the delight of the travelling City fans.
Recent form:
In their most recent match, a second string PSG side beat Guingamp 0-2 away from home. Lucas grabbing both of the goals mid-way through the second half. Manchester City scrapped past a tough West Brom side as Samir Nasri scored the decisive goal for Pellegrini’s side. City started with two up top as Wilfred Bony was given his chance to partner Aguero.
The best bets:
With so much at stake and with Paris needing to score, they will look to hit the ground running. Paris to lead after 10 minutes is priced at .
City showed in the first leg that they can overcome no matter what is thrown at them. After Fernando’s mistake and falling 2-1 behind they showed serious belief. Man City to win from behind .
