UK Open 2025 Format and Schedule
Sponsored by Ladbrokes and set to run between February 28 and March 1, the 2025 UK Open is one of the most anticipated events on the darts calendar, largely due to its inclusion of players from all tiers of the sport. Often referred to as the FA Cup of Darts, the UK Open features several unfamiliar faces to fans, with competitors gaining entry from the pro tour, challenge tour, development tour, as well as a few amateur qualifiers from across the globe.
What makes the UK Open unique is that, unlike the vast majority of other major darts events, multiple games are played simultaneously across six separate boards. Additionally, there is no seeding, and the open draw format creates opportunities for lower-ranked players to make unexpected deep runs with a little bit of luck. Thus, once the tournament concludes, we often see significant movement in the order of merit.
Round one at the UK Open features amateur qualifiers, eight challenge tour players, development tour players, and tour card holders that hold a rank of 97th or higher. In round two, players ranked between 65th and 96th will enter the fray. The third round brings in those ranked 33rd to 65th worldwide, while the top 32 players in the world will make their entrance into the prestigious tournament in the fourth round. A prize pool of £600,000 is up for grabs, and the winner of the tournament will walk away with £110,000 this year!
- There will be no seeded players in the tournament
- After the third round, a random draw will determine the matchups for each subsequent round
- Matches between rounds one and three will be played in a best-of-11 legs format
- Matches between rounds four and six, as well as the quarter-finals, will be played in a best-of-19 legs format
- The semi-finals and final will be played in a best-of-21 legs format
- Eight boards will be used during rounds one through four
- Four boards will be used in round five
- Two boards will be used in round six
- Only one board will be used in the quarters, semis and grand final
Top 32-ranked Players and UK Open Draw
While Luke Humphries still holds he number-one rank in the world, it is Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler who is currently installed as the clear favourite for the 2025 UK Open with all the best online bookmakers. Dimitri Van den Bergh is ranked 16th globally and is the defending champion, having beaten ‘Cool Hand Luke’ 11-10 in last year’s final.
