Euro 2024 Top Scorer: Who Should You Bet On?
by Steve Ashfield | by Véronique MASUAKU
Our favorites to be the top scorer at Euro 2024
Predicting the top scorer in a competition like a European Championships, World Cup or a Copa America is rarely simple. But our experts still wanted to give you their views on who could be the tournament's top goal scorer. Just who is the big favorite as far as our editorial team is concerned. Remember that throughout the tournament you can read our Euro 2024 predictions to help you with your betting selections.
No. 1: Mbappé, he just had to be included
It's already been an eventful summer for Kylian Mbappe who has now signed to play for Real Madrid. Now he captains France and will hope to lead them to the European title before a well-deserved holiday.
After a disappointing Euro 2020 where he did not score a single goal and missed in the penalty shootout against Switzerland, he more than made up for that in the 2022 World Cup. He was the top scorer with eight goals as France lost in the final to Argentina.
The number 10 of the Blues scored nine goals in eight games for his country in the qualifying rounds and will hope to carry that kind of form into these finals in Germany. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku scored more goals than Mbappe in the qualifying rounds. He is our favorite to be top scorer and is 5.0 at William Hill.
No. 2: Harry Kane - In Great Form
As is often the case, Harry Kane is one of the big favorites for the title of top scorer at Euro 2024. And, as usual, the English striker should respond. Indeed, his transfer from Tottenham to Bayern Munich did not change much for the number 9, who had a record-breaking season for Bayern Munich, though it wasn't enough to win his side the German Bundesliga title.
If he had not been influential enough at the 2022 World Cup (2 goals in 5 matches, including the famous second missed penalty against France), he quickly made up for it by rising to fourth best scorer in qualifying for this Euro 2024, with 8 goals in 8 matches.
In a team that creates plenty of chances thanks to players such as Bellingham, Foden, Saka and Palmer among others), Harry Kane should enjoy himself during this European Championship, where he could be a hit from the groups in a group C where England face Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia. He also has the advantage of taking every penalty for the Three Lions! He's the second favorite to be top scorer with a best price of 6.5 at bet365 and definitely worth a bet.
No. 3: Lukaku, the Consistent Belgian
No player has scored more goals for Belgium than Romelu Lukaku. He's scored 85 times in 115 matches including netting twice in the recent 3-0 win over Luxembourg. Injury hit his hopes of a successful 2022 World Cup. He was in the squad but didn't play in the first two games and he then missed several scoring opportunities during the third against Croatia and Belgium were knocked out in the group stages. He's bounced back well though and was the top scorer in the qualifying rounds with 15 goals in eight matches. That includ scoring four in 20 minutes against Azerbaijan.
Often criticized for being strong against the weak and weak against the strong, he will clearly have the opportunity to play well in a group E made up of Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine. He's got a good chance of being top scorer especially if Belgium make it out of their group. Check out all the Euro 2024 odds on our site.

Top scorer at Euro 2024: The Outsiders
After our three favorites for the title of top scorer of Euro 2024, here are the outsiders who, in our opinion, could also finish top of the list. Cristiano Ronaldo is most likely playing his last major competition with his country. He's soon to be 40 years old but doesn't play like someone approaching that age.
However, at Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, he continues to be a prolific scorer with 35 league goals in the season that's just ended. The 2016 European championship winner has been in good form for Portugal and on June 11 he scored twice for them against Ireland. He was the second top scorer in the qualifying phase with 10 goals in 9 matches, He's available at 13.00 at Unibet and is well worth an each-way bet.
A bit in the style of Cristiano, Olivier Giroud is reaching the end of his career and is likely to retire from international football after Euro 2024. The end of a very good era for the former Montpellier, Arsenal and Chelsea striker, who helped France win the World Cup in 2018. He scored four goals in the 2022 World Cup and three in the qualifying matches for this tournament. That's a good performance considering he doesn't always begin games. You can get odds of 21.00 at Vbet on him being top scorer in these finals.
He then finished 3rd best scorer behind Mbappé and Messi. During the qualifiers for this European Championship, he still scored 3 times in 8 matches, while not always starting. You can follow all the action on our Euro 2024 livescore with updated statistics and live text commentary.
Jude Bellingham will also be one of the players to watch during this 2024 European Championship. Indeed, he became a regular scorer this season with Real Madrid winning both the La Liga title and the Champions League with them. He scored 19 times for them in La Liga and turns 20 during this tournament.
With a view to the race for the Ballon d'Or, finishing top scorer in this Euro and winning the trophy would obviously be a real plus and is well worth a bet, especially if you believe England will go deep in Germany.
We also believe you should consider Spain's Alvaro Morata, who, like La Roja, is one of the outsiders and should not be underestimated. At huge odds he's another who could be worthy of an each-way wager.
And we finish with the highest odds! Bayer Leverkusen's offensive player, Florian Wirtz, who had a brilliant season with the new Bundesliga champions. He could well be the "surprise" of this Euro. Although he is not considered a scorer on the pitch, he is still a consistent scorer with over 20 goals in all competitions! And we remember his huge strike against France in a friendly on March 23 after just a few seconds of play.
