Indeed, with the tournament kick-off fast approaching (on 14 June), it's time to bring you our table. Europe's top nations will be taking part in Euro 2024: Spain, France, Italy, England, Croatia, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland... For 1 full month, we should be treated to a superb spectacle. Who will be the surprise nations? Who will go all the way? Who will disappoint? Without further ado, below is our prediction table based on the opinion, analysis and feelings of our experts.

Euro 2024: SportyTrader's prediction table

Euro 2024 prediction table

As you can see, we're expecting a magnificent tournament, with all the big favourites expected to come out on top. Indeed, we're expecting a last four featuring England, Germany, France and Portugal! It's also worth noting that we're envisioning a very good showing from the host nation, which could well see off Spain and Portugal in particular, to qualify for the final match. And then it would be a huge final to look forward to, with the magnificent English generation finally being crowned European champions for the very first time in their history!

What did we base our predictions on?

If you'd like more explanations and details of our experts' reasoning, don't hesitate to read on. Below, you'll find a list of the most important aspects taken into account by our specialists:

  • The strength of the nations
  • The form of the major players
  • Fan support
  • Each team's statistics
  • History of encounters
  • Track record in previous competitions/qualification phases

As you will have gathered, our main argument concerns each nation's squad. A superstar team like England, Germany or France obviously has a much better chance on paper of winning Euro 2024 than Scotland or Hungary. However, we have to be careful, because although we use this information to draw up our predictions, we don't rely on it completely. As we have seen at the last two editions, it was not necessarily the two best teams with the best players that won the trophy, but rather the strength of a group and a close-knit collective.

The form of the players also remains a fairly important argument for working on our table. On paper, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz and Antoine Griezmann are all excellent players, but the first two have been in much better form in recent weeks with Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen than Les Bleus' vice-captain has been with Atlético... And that will be important in this tournament, which is still very short and where players sometimes do not have the time to get back into shape.

Provisional draw Euro 2024 - Germany

Secondly, the support of the fans will also be important. The advantage of this Euro is that it's being played in Germany, which is pretty much at the centre of Europe. Many people will be able to make the trip to support their nation, and we should be treated to some great atmosphere in the stands! While Germany obviously have a slight advantage over their opponents in this respect, some countries should also be well helped by their supporters. Turkey, England and Hungary come to mind! Other aspects such as the statistics of each country in recent competitions, the history of confrontations, the performance in previous tournaments or during qualifying were also taken into account.

As you will have gathered, our sports prediction experts have reviewed the main aspects of each team at Euro 2024 to come up with a prediction table that is as close to the truth as possible in their estimation. Of course, this is a difficult exercise, and the slightest piece of news (red card at the start of the match, major player injury, lack of success) can distort it, but we still wanted to play along, as we do at every competition! As a reminder, at the last Africa Cup of Nations, we saw Côte d'Ivoire reach the final and win the title... Will this year finally be the year for the English? We'll have the answer in a few weeks' time! If you agree with our predictions, don't wait any longer to grab the great odds offered by the bookmakers for a Three Lions success!

Our explanation of the qualifiers

Euro 2024 prediction table - Phil Foden England

In the group phase, we can expect very few surprises, with Group A likely to be dominated by Germany and then Switzerland. In third place, we have chosen Hungary rather than Scotland, even though the latter is not to be underestimated and has a very interesting squad and team. The Hungarians would then qualify among the best third-placed teams. As for Pool B, Spain and Italy are likely to finish top after what we can only imagine will be a very tight battle. Luka Modric's Croatia should finish among the best third-placed teams and qualify for the last 16. Group C, the home of England, should see the Three Lions come out on top, leaving Denmark and Serbia in second and third place respectively.

Here's the group that probably interests most of you: Les Bleus. Rather like the Spain/Italy duel, here we see a tight duel between France and the Netherlands, with Didier Deschamps' men narrowly finishing in first place. Austria and Poland, meanwhile, could find it very difficult to secure a place in the last 16. Group E, meanwhile, looks very evenly matched, with Belgium on top of the pack and expected to win all 3 of their games. In second place are Ukraine, who have some excellent players. To conclude, the last group, F, features Portugal, who are also expected to take 9 points. Behind them, we can see the Czech Republic in second place and Turkey among the best third-placed teams, although it should be very tight all the way to the end with a clash between the two nations on the final day.

As far as the knockout phase is concerned, there are also very few surprises in store, with the favourites expected to assume their status right to the end. We would then be treated to a magnificent last four featuring France, England, Germany and Portugal! For the time being, we've opted for Germany, who have a superb generation combining youth (Wirtz, Musiala, Sané, Havertz) and experience (Rudiger, Neuer, Gundogan) to qualify against the Portuguese, who have been disappointing in recent competitions, despite having a very good team on paper. As for the other semi-final, not everyone will be happy with our prediction, but England have such an exceptional team and players at the top of their game... Although Les Bleus have a fine team on paper, a number of players are already ruled out through injury, or could start Euro 2024 in poor form. We'll go with reason and see the Three Lions reach the final and end up winning the trophy for the very first time in their long history!
