Carabao Cup: who are we expecting this evening?

Newcastle v Chelsea: a taste of revenge
It's the second round of the Carabao Cup after Southampton and Bentford qualified yesterday. And, just 3 days after a magnificent Premier League encounter between Chelsea and Newcastle, these two clubs meet again this evening for a rematch! And after watching this weekend's match, our Newcastle v Chelsea prediction could only go to an open game!
Indeed, we were treated to a very good match in the English top flight on Sunday afternoon, between two forward-thinking, playful teams who were not coming to play for a draw. As is often the case, the crack Cole Palmer responded to Alexander Isak's equaliser (after Nicolas Jackson had opened the scoring). We're obviously hoping for a similar game this evening!

Tottenham v Manchester City: it's showtime
Next up is what is probably the biggest match of the evening, with one of the favourites for our Carabao Cup prediction. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City travel to London to take on Tottenham Spurs! And, unfortunately for them, Spurs have struggled for consistency in recent weeks... After a sluggish start to the season (1 win in 4 games), they have won 5 in a row. However, they have recently lost 2 of their last 4 games, including a disappointing defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Opposite them, Manchester City are on a roll despite the absence of their recent Ballon d'Or winner Rodri! The Mancunians are unbeaten and have not lost a game so far this season, and have won five in a row. The Sky Blues, who have struggled against their rivals in recent years, will be hoping to build on their current form to reach the quarter-finals. Take a look at our Tottenham v Manchester City prediction!

Brighton v Liverpool: another success for the Reds?
We finish with a match that should also be very interesting to follow, with the Liverpool Reds travelling to the south of England to take on Brighton! The Seagulls have made a very good start to the season, with just one defeat so far (at Chelsea). They have already beaten some formidable opponents in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle, and have also held off Arsenal at the Emirates...
It will therefore be a far from easy game for Mohamed Salah and his team-mates, although our Brighton v Liverpool prediction suggests that they could well come out on top. In the midst of a year of transition with the departure of Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot at the helm, the Reds are doing wonderfully well with a current record of 11 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat this season! Are we on course for a 12th success tonight?
