Boxing Schedule: Biggest Fights Remaining in 2024
by Devesh Jaganath | by Devesh Jaganath
We have already seen history being made this year, as the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion was crowned when Oleksandr Usyk pulled off an against-the-odds victory to knock Tyson Fury off his perch.
Canelo Alvarez returned to the ring to secure the undisputed super middleweight title against compatriot Jaime Munguia, and of course, few can forget Gervonta Davis’ brutal knockout of Frank Martin. However, with four months yet to go, there is still plenty to look forward to from the squared circle.

September 2024 - Anthony Joshua to Become Three-time Champion?
September offers boxing lovers a feast of tantalising bouts, headlined by none other than England’s pride Anthony Joshua squaring off against Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight world title at Wembley Stadium in London.
AJ has been working tirelessly to return to prominence since losing the title and has looked like a fighter reborn since changing trainer to Ben Davison, who has helped him rediscover his true ability. With Davison in his corner, Joshua has put in two resounding performances, forcing stoppages over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
Dubois, the current champion, is showing up as a marginal underdog at the books and is the custodian of the title owing to Usyk agreeing to vacate the IBF belt and defend only the WBA, WBC and WBO title in his rematch with Fury later in the year.
Before we head to Wembley, though, Canelo Alvarez will defend his Super Middleweight championship against Edgar Berlanga, who will be fighting on the upper echelon for the first time in his career. Alvarez is (61-2-2, 39 KOs), while Berlanga holds a pro record of (22-0, 17 KOs).

October 2024 - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion to be Decided
October’s calendar will allow fight fans to finally see Artur Beterbiev take on Dmitry Bivol after the June 1 matchup between these two was postponed due to Beterbiev sustaining a ruptured meniscus in training. All the gold is on the line in this one!
Beterbiev is a four-time amateur gold medalist and won the IBF light heavyweight title in 2017, the WBC title in 2019 and added the WBO belt to his collection in 2022. The last time we saw the Russian-born boxer in the ring, he took Callum Smith apart with relative ease.
Bivol, on the other hand, turned pro in 2014 and won the interim WBA light heavyweight title in 2016, but only really caught the attention of onlookers when he beat Canelo Alvarez in 2022. Since then, the 33-year-old has won three in a row, including his first knockout against Malik Zinad.

November 2024 - Iron Mike Returns to the Squared Circle
Whether you love or hate Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer certainly has a knack of making headlines, and arguably none bigger than bringing the legend Mike Tyson out of retirement for one last bust-up.
Tyson turned 58 this summer and last graced the ring with his presence in 2020 for an exhibition match after retiring way back in 2004. Indeed, there are concerns over the age of the former World Heavyweight champion but Iron Mike can still knock any fighter’s head into another dimension if he catches them.
Paul, meanwhile, is a whole 31 years younger than Tyson and has been active in the ring, featuring in four fights in the last 12 months alone. The 27-year-old told the world that his primary objective for the November bout is to “KO a Legend” and “make a bag”. It is reported that if Paul does indeed knock Tyson out, he will collect a $40 million purse for his efforts.
Whichever side of the conversation you’re on, Paul vs Tyson is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly-awaited pro fights in recent years and will live long in the memory well after its conclusion.

December 2024 - Gypsy King to Tame The Cat in the Middle East?
December is a thin month in terms of headline fights, but there is one blockbuster on the cards with Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury set to lock horns in a rematch, but this time for three of the four belts - the WBA, WBC and WBO Heavyweight World Titles.
Usyk etched his name in history by becoming the undisputed Heavyweight champion with a split-decision win over Fury on May 18, taking his incredible professional record to 22 consecutive victories, and he will be looking to make that 23 in this Christmas cracker in Saudi Arabia.
While Usyk rightfully won the bout in May, many pundits agree that the Ukrainian did not face the best version of Fury, who did not look in the best shape leading up to the fight. This time, though, there are no excuses for the Gypsy King and his fans are crying out to see him let his hand go after seemingly taking a cautious approach in the first match.
Notably, if Fury overcomes Usyk and Anthony Joshua wins the IBF title, could we see the Gypsy King and AJ go toe-to-toe for all the titles in 2024?
Major upcoming fights in December 2024:
Date | Event | Weightclass/ Title | Venue |
---|---|---|---|
Dec 7 | Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez II | TBA | TBA |
Dec 21 | Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 | WBA, WBC and WBO Heavyweight World Titles | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia |
