The final of the 2024 Birmingham Classic will be contested by world number 41 Yulia Putintseva and world number 190 Ajla Tomljanovic. This will be the sixth career meeting between these two and the first as a championship match.

Yulia Putintseva has qualified for her first tour final since 2021 and is seeking her third tour title. The Kazakh defeated Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets in the semi-finals.

She has now won 27 times this year and is unbeaten on grass. With this record, she should be confident of strengthening her record against Tomljanovic. Putintseva has won four of five meetings with Tomljanovic and is currently on a three-match winning run against her.

Advancing to her first tour final on grass has moved her up five places in the live ranking to 36th.

Ajla Tomljanovic is also ending a long hiatus to grace a tour final. The Australian, who is playing in Birmingham with a protected ranking, last played a tour final in 2019.

She has contested four tour finals in her career and unfortunately, she is yet to come out victorious. Tomljanovic defeated seventh seed Anastasia Potapova in the semi-finals in straight sets.

It was the second time in the competition she had gotten the better of a seeded player. The former world number 32 had come out victorious in a three-set battle with sixth seed Leylah Fernandez in the quarter-finals.

Tomljanovc, who has had injury concerns, has registered eight of her 11 wins on grass. She is currently up a massive 55 places in the live ranking to 135th place.
