Yue Yuan vs Yafan Wang Prediction & Betting Tips - ATX Open

8th seed Yue Yuan will take on compatriot Yafan Wang in the ATX Open quarter final. It is fair to say that the eighth seed has been pushed hard in her campaign so far to reach this stage of the tournament. In the first round she lost the first set 3-6 to Arina Rodionova, but turned it around winning the final two sets 6-3, 6-1. She then faced Taylor Townsend from the United States and this time won in two sets, although she was pushed to a tie-break in the second, winning eventually 6-3,7-6(5). Yuan will be hoping to at least match the semi-final she reached in Hobart at the start of January as well as bouncing back from two lacklustre showings in Hua Hin and Doha, where she lost despite being seeded sixth and eighth in both tournaments to lower ranked players (Arina Rodionova in Hua Hin and 14th seed Ashlyn Krueger in Doha). She lies 64th in the current WTA Live Rankings. 

Her opponent Yafan Wang is ranked just two spots behind Yuan in the current WTA Live Rankings in 66th and that stat exemplifies just how startlingly well-matched these two players are over many different data points. Wang has won the only career game played between them, but that came way back in 2017 and it was a game ended prematurely with Yuan forced to retire injured leading 6-4,4-5. What is true is that Wang has been in the better form of the two of late. She reached the Round of 32 of the Australian Open, losing narrowly to 12th seed Qinwen Zheng, then followed that up with a fine showing in Hua Hin, where she lost out to second seed Lin Zhu in the semi finals. She's now followed that with a quarter final in Austin after beating fourth seed Lucia Bronzetti 7-6(5), 6-4 in the first round and then Emiliana Arango 6-2, 6-2 in the second.
