The qualifier Yuan Yue continues her impressive Hobart International campaign and will next battle second seed Emma Navarro. This is a semifinal tie and the winner will play either Elise Mertens or Daria Saville in the final. Yuan Yue is through to only her second career tour semifinal. She will hope to emerge victorious as she did in Seoul last year and go on to win her first tour crown. Emma Navarro has defeated Yue both times they have met. This was in the challenger circuit with both matches played on clay. The American will therefore be confident of securing the win and advancing to her first-ever tour final. Navarro has started the season in exceptional form and also made the semifinals in Auckland. To advance to her second successive semifinal, she defeated lucky loser Viktoriya Tomova in three sets. She had to come from a set down to win a decider just like she did in her tournament opener. The 22-year-old had a superb 2023 campaign and won 64 matches alternating between the tour and challenger circuit. She is currently up to 30th place in the live ranking which is a career high.
