Eighth seed Yoshihito Nishioka and third seed Jan-Lennard Struff will on Sunday battle at the Zhuhai Championship quarterfinals. Yoshihito Nishioka defeated Lloyd Harris in straight sets to advance to this round. He had lost his previous two meetings with Harris. The win will have him confident of challenging for another tour title in Asia. Nishioka has won his two tour titles in his home continent. The Japanese number one is currently ranked 40th in the live ranking after making a six-place leap thanks to his success here. Nishioka has struggled with his form this season and currently has lost one more match than the 16 he has won. The 27-year-old defeated Struff the last time they met, which was three years ago.

Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Nishioka in their first meeting back in 2019. As he has fared much better than Nishioka this season, he will be confident of adding to his advantage. Struff began his Zhuhaui campaign with a three-set victory over unseeded Cristian Garin. The win, his 42nd of the season, allowed him to move up one place to 22nd in the live ranking. Struff is having his best season in the last six years and his form on hard court has been key. The German has won 21 of the 27 matches he has played on the surface. His highlights however have come on clay and grass where he has recorded two runner-up tour-level finishes. The 33-year-old is making his debut in Zhuhai. The winner here will next play either Andy Murray, Aslan Karatsev, Cameron Norrie or Marc Polmans.
