The winner of this match will face either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Borna Coric in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Yannick Hanfmann continued his dream run here in Rome by overcoming world number six Andrey Rublev in the last round. The German has improved his world ranking significantly, from 101st at the start of the tournament to 63rd coming into this match. After a tough start to the year, Hanfmann has made a notable improvement in the last month, reaching the semi-final in Houston and the round of 32 in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. He is now 28-12 for the year and 23-8 on the clay. Hanfmann dropped a set in his last two matches, and having played six matches already in this tournament, his fitness levels will be thoroughly tested in this one.
