Third seed Yanina Wickmayer and unseeded Sachia Vickery are set to meet again, this time in US Open qualifying, on Friday. The winner of this third-round tie will proceed to the main draw. Yanina Wickmayer was in dominant form in her last match against Harriet Dart. She won in straight sets which was a huge improvement after being forced into a comeback win in round one. As she has defeated Vickery in both their encounters, the Belgian will be confident of advancing from this round. Sachia Vickery has been defeated in qualifying here in the last two seasons. Last season, she lost in this very same round. In her 10 appearances, the American has made the main draw five times. In what is her 11th appearance here, Vickery has shown resilience in both her matches. She has been forced to dig deep and come from an opening set deficit to win. To advance to this round, she battled for slightly over two hours against 31st seed Viktorija Golubic. She will hope to not be jaded as her first-round match lasted for almost two hours and 30 minutes. Vickery has compiled a 27-18 record with 12 of her wins coming on hard court. She is currently placed at number 204 in the live ranking.
