Yanina Wickmayer has won both her rounds in Seoul without dropping a set. She defeated third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova by the loss of nine games in the last round. Polina Kudermetova has moved up an impressive 11 places in the live ranking thanks to advancing to this round. The Russian defeated Kathinka von Deichmann by the loss of just four games and is now ranked 159th in the world. The win was her 31st of the season in 52 outings. Kudermetova, who is a strong performer on hard courts, hasn’t played that much on the surface this season. She has registered just seven hard court appearances but has dominated and has won five times. Kudermetova, who is making her Seoul debut, has won one ITF title. The winner of this first meeting between the two will play either Jessica Pegula, Ashlyn Krueger, or Claire Liu next.
