Winnipeg Jets vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Matthew Newman in NHL Predictions
The 15-12-4 Detroit Red Wings head north of the border to take on the 18-9-3 Winnipeg Jets in the early hours of Thursday morning. Both teams are coming in off the back of disappointing home losses, the Red Wings against the Anaheim Ducks and the Jets off an overtime defeat at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens. To be fair to the Jets, that was the Canadiens 5th win in their last six road games. They have the best goal differential in the Central Division and had won six of their last seven games prior to the Canadiens coming to town. They are missing their talisman Kyle Connor and will be until at least the end of January but that has not stopped them in wins over the Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche, two of the big boys in the west. Comfortable 4-1 winners in Detroit at the end of October, they will be looking to do the double over the Motor City side this season.
Goal scoring has generally come easy for the Detroit Red Wings this season, but they have become a touch inconsistent in the last two weeks. In 25 of their 31 games this season they have scored two or more, three of the six they haven't, have been in their past six games. Just a single win in their last seven games has seen them start to fall off the pace in the Atlantic Division a little bit. Patrick Kane has not had the immediate effect that fans will have been hoping for, a single goal in his first seven games as a Red Wing and a -7 do not make for pretty reading. After almost 16 years in Chicago, he moved to the New York Rangers at the deadline last season and waited until part of the way through this campaign to decide where he would play. That is not going to help him but the future Hall of Famer has to find his game.
