Winnipeg Jets vs Boston Bruins Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The 19-9-3 Winnipeg Jets host the 19-5-6 Boston Bruins. The Bruins have been surpassed for the top spot in the east by the New York Rangers, hitting a bit of a sticky patch of late. The last four games they have played have all gone beyond the standard 60 minutes, losing three in overtime and winning one in a shootout. The Bruins are 2-0 when a game has gone to a shootout this season but are just 2-6 in the three-on-three overtime period so their fans will be looking for them to get the job done within the ordinary time frame. David Pastrnak leads them in scoring with 19 so far this season, including five in their last five games. That is good for 4th in the league but the gap back to Brad Marchand with 13 then Charlie Coyle with 10 is a slight worry that they are overly reliant on him. In Jeremy Swayman, they have one of the top goalies in the game but Linus Ullmark (who is no bad player himself) is taking half the game time. This is the first game of three on the road for them, with five of their next six on their travels. They are just 6-5-2 when they have played in this building in the past and that has been against a Jets franchise who have not been as complete a unit as this one.
It has been an excellent season for the Jets so far. A home win over the Detroit Red Wings in the early hours on Thursday morning put them on top of the Central Division. Gabriel Vilardi only played three games at the start of the season before spraining an MCL. It took a while for him to get back to the pace of the NHL but he has picked up 10 points in his last four games so it is safe to say that he has found his game playing on the top line with Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers. It was sparked by a visit to his old team, the Los Angeles Kings, where he had a four-point night and has not taken his foot off the gas since. Josh Morrissey is having a huge season on the blue line. A career-high 76 points for the Jets last year is on target to be matched again this season but a +19 is a long way ahead of any figure that he has produced in his career, a mark that is tied for third-best in the league. He has played a big part in the strengthening of the Jets defence and will continue to play a vital role.
