Western Province vs Blue Bulls Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup
by Devesh Jaganath in Currie Cup Predictions
This weekend will serve up a dose of Currie Cup action as the eighth round of matches gets underway, with the Western Province playing host to the Vodacom Bulls on Saturday at the Cape Town Stadium. The hosts will be looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat last week against the Pumas, which ended 25-24 in favour of the side from Mpumalanga. Following that loss, Western Province slipped to sixth in the table with 16 points after seven matches, 13 points behind the Cup leaders and holding a record of three wins and four losses. Western Province have failed to win their last two matches ahead of this one; however, they did manage one over this opponent just last month in this tournament, winning at Loftus Versfeld 41-33. Now back in front of their home fans, the hosts will fancy their chances at completing the double over this opponent to keep the pressure on the sides above them.
Meanwhile, the Bulls have begun to find their feet in this tournament and come into this one off the back of an excellent win over the Golden Lions last week. That followed an excellent showing in Durban to topple the fancied Sharks side 24-20 and a 40-3 win over the struggling Griquas a week earlier. Following four consecutive defeats in their first four matches, the Bulls have now won their last three and currently sit above their opponents in fifth place on the table with 17 points and have picked up one more bonus point than Western Province to date. The visitors have struggled in recent months with several key players involved in European tournaments; however, they will head to the west coast full of confidence and will be quietly confident that they can take advantage of a Western Province defence that has been struggling to see out matches in recent weeks.

Our Western Province vs Blue Bulls Prediction
Despite their excellent performances in recent weeks, the visitors still come into this one as the underdogs, with most expecting the Western Province side to get back to winning ways in front of their home crowd. However, the Bulls will have a few key players returning to their squad, and this is a venue that they have done well at in recent years. It should be a close match, and we fancy the Bulls to keep it tight, and they may even nick it in the end. Our Western Province v Bulls prediction is on the handicap market for the Bulls +3.
