Match 40 of the T20 World Cup will see the West Indies taking on Afghanistan at the Beausejour Stadium on Tuesday morning. The hosts are second in the group while the visitors lead the standings. Regardless of the outcome of this match, both these teams will qualify for the Super Eight, having won all three of their matches in the competition. The West Indies have been impressive at their home World Cup and kicked off the tournament with a solid five-wicket victory over minnows Papua New Guinea. That was followed by a demotion of Uganda, where they bowled out the African nation for 39, which is the joint-lowest T20 World Cup total in history. They then secured their Super Eight spot with a 13-run victory over New Zealand last week with Sherfane Rutherford scoring an unbeaten 68 in just 39 balls. The hosts won the last match between these sides and are the bookmakers' favourite in this one. 

Meanwhile, Afghanistan entered the tournament as the dark horse in the group and have done exceptionally well to this point. Like their opponents, they have won all three of their matches, starting with a huge 125-run win over Uganda. The shock of the group came in game two when they beat the Black Caps by 84 runs and proceeded to take down PNG by seven wickets on Friday. Owing to their impressive performances, the Blue Tigers currently possess the best net run rate in the competition at +4.230. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the top-scorer at the T20 World Cup so far this year, currently on 156 runs in just two innings. Afghanistan have lost four of the seven T20 matches they’ve played against this opponent but cannot be ruled out of this one.
