The playoff battling Golden State Warriors head east to the nation’s capital to take on the lowly Washington Wizards on Tuesday in the NBA. The Warriors' challenging season continues as last season’s Western Conference semi-finalists face a battle to qualify for this year’s postseason. The Dubs find themselves sitting on a 29-27 record, placing them 10th in the standings and currently occupying the final play-in tournament spot. Naturally, the Warriors would prefer to skip the play-in, meaning they will have to catch the sixth-placed Pelicans whom they currently trail by 4.5 games. With roughly a third of the regular season left, there’s still time and a hot run to finish the year could see the 2022 champions shoot up the standings. The Warriors are coming off a 119-103 home loss to the Denver Nuggets, snapping a three-game winning streak. Despite the recent defeat, things have been going quite well for Golden State who are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.  They’ve also been a much more consistent away team at 13-12 this year compared to their horrid 11-30 mark from last season.

There isn’t much to say for the Washington Wizards. The team clearly has an eye to the 2024 draft and the coming seasons as this is nothing more than a throwaway year. Washington sits 14th in the Eastern Conference with a record of nine wins and 48 defeats. They’re coming off a 114-105 home defeat to the Cavaliers, marking their 11th loss in a row. This has them just one game above the Pistons for the ignominious “worst team in the league” title. It’s hard to highlight an area of play that Washington does particularly well as they rank 29 in adjusted net rating, 26th in adjusted offensive rating and 28th in adjusted defensive rating. They do, however, play with the league’s highest pace, meaning that fans are at least in for an exciting show when the Wiz take to the court.
